Bad Yuletide Poetry

Thanks for your help, Critter. The document I was referring to follows. Not a trip report, just some foolishness. 55 days till we get there...but who's counting. Happy Holidays to all the PlayaInfo family

T’was Two Months Before Playa

T’was two months before Playa,
And cross our frozen land.
We were looking at snow,
But dreaming of sand.

Our swimsuits were hung,
By our snorkels with care.
And we wished it were sooner,
That we could be there.

Our electric blanket,
Had us snug in our bed.
While visions of sunshine,
Danced in our head.

We checked Playa’s temperature,
On the cable weather station.
And then settled in,
For our long hibernation.

When out in the yard,
We heard such a racket.
“Hey! Maybe it’s Santa,
With our plane ticket packet”!

I ran to the window,
And pulled back the curtain.
To see a rusted-out jalopy,
A clunker for certain.

The streetlights on the drifts,
Of new-fallen snow.
Gave the lustre of mid-day,
To objects below.

Though they wore Hawaiian shirts,
I could still make out their features.
This beater was being pulled,
By a throng of sunburned beachers.

I saw what I thought,
Was a crowd of flaky yokels.
But who they really were,
Was Playa del Carmen locals.

I could clearly see,
They were a group right out to lunch.
They turned out to be,
That PlayaInfo bunch.

Our James was the driver,
In fur-trimmed shorts of red.
He called out to his team,
And this is what he said.

”Stop gulping those Coronas,
And swilling Margaritas.
Quit gobbling Tacos el Pastor,
And inhaling those fajitas”.

“They’re off to Playa in just two months,
They’ve probably started to pack.
I’ve got a big jug of sun block,
For them, right here in my sack”.

“Our deliveries have gone well,
We’ve really been on a roll.
I know we’re all getting thirsty,
So let’s go get some Sol”!

“Once this drop is made,
We’ll be off to our sunny ocean.
But it’s a lengthy flight,
So let’s get our butts in motion”.

“Now Anna, and Critter, and Ryberg and Nick!
On Denisea, and Michaelholmes, and Manitou and Munichchick!
Up JAH, and Squish, and Dougie46 and Tex,
Go Micajah, and KJTom, and Caramba and SCTX”!

And I heard him exclaim,
As they weaved out of sight.
“We’ll see you snowbirds on the beach,
And to all a good night”!

Well, I know I'm scraping the bottom of the barrel when I'm not even considered "reindeer worthy" ... :cry:

I love it and can relate. I grew up in Winnipeg, Charleswood girl acutally

Though I've been living in the Caribbean for over 10 years now, I'm still a Winnipeger at heart, my hearts just a little warmer now

I had to email it to my parents, they moved back there 3 years ago and will get a kick out if it especially since they will be coming down to visit us in Playa in February or March...
