Gala ????
We are head to the Gala on the 17th and I have some ?'s
How early do you need to make reservation for the restaurant? Do we need to bring our own beach towels ? ( We went To cuba and if you were not in the line-up by 7:00 you were out of luck) How much should a cab cost to go to Playa Del Carman? How is the bus service to town? What is the best way to get to Xcaret and how far is it from the Hotel? My husband has to catch the 6:00 am ferry to Cozmel ( he's a diver) will he be able to get something to eat before he goes? Would they make him a box lunch? How is the Kid's Club? We have a 4year old boy, he is pretty independent. Would you leave them at the club while shopping in town? Any other advise would be greatful appreciated. Thanks Elly 17 sleeps to go

Restaurant reservations can be made after 8:00am one day in advance. If you book Gala Club you can get "priority preference" but I never have so cannot give details. Both restaurants are worth trying.
Plenty of towels provided at the beach and pool. Cab to PDC around 40 pesos or $4USD, plus tip. Never used the bus. Xcaret is "next door" about 3-5 minute cab ride. Re: early ferry to Cozumel. The resort has 24 hour room service or you can buy something near the ferry dock, plenty of little stores. We don't use daycare at home nor on vacation, that is a personal decision. Our kids love going into town. Other advice: Don't miss the Mexican Fiesta night. Have fun and please post a trip report. Say hello to Iker. |

We stayed at the Gala a few years ago, but I'll try to answer some of your questions the best I can.
I'll try to hit the ones the previous reply couldn't.When we went to Xcaret, we took a taxi there because I really wanted to swim with the dolphins and you (at that time) had to be one of the first 50 people to get a ticket. We took the bus back to the resort and I think it took around 15 minutes. This was set up by Apple. We didn't take our kids, but the kids club looked like a lot of fun! They had a varity of activities to choose from for all ages posted daily. Some of the crafts they did I would have liked to try! They made some really cool souviners. They provide beach towels, and we never had a problem getting clean ones. You just pick them up by the pool when you need them (I think you sign them out) and drop them off when finished. Have a GREAT time!
