Help with our trip please

Hi everyone! We've rented a condo Dec 27-Jan 10. Our friends (another couple) are coming with us and leaving Jan 3.

1. What's the best way to do a day trip to Cancun? Please don't suggest the bus!

2. Any good bikini stores in PDC or Cancun? I'm guessing the ones in Cancun are better if you like more designer bikinis? I like to buy one in every beach place I visit.

3. NYE - where should we go for an upscale meal? Where should we be at midnight? Where are young fashionable people going to be? We know the BPM festival is going on and there are some dj's we like playing it, so there has to be a cool party for NYE right?

4. We want to take a deep sea fishing trip, any recs?

5. What is the cost of jet skis?

6. What is there to do on Cozumel?

Thanks for your help!! We are all 26-30 and live in Toronto. I'm so glad I found this forum...TripAdvisor has way too many AI questions cluttering up the info!

Good luck avoiding the old, unfashionable people... we are everywhere. Fortunately since we were here first they grandfathered us in.

1. What's the best way to do a day trip to Cancun? Please don't suggest the bus!

If you want to go to multiple places, hire a van with driver for the day right from this site. Click here.

2. Any good bikini stores in PDC or Cancun? I'm guessing the ones in Cancun are better if you like more designer bikinis? I like to buy one in every beach place I visit.

Playa del Carmen has several Zingara bikini stores, should suit what you're looking for. Bikinis in the 70 usd and up range. I don't know about Cancun shopping much, as I do my level best to stay out of the Hotel Zone there, but I know that CUN has a lot of high end shopping.

3. NYE - where should we go for an upscale meal? So many places...In Fashion, Da Vino, Glass Bar...walk around and check out menus when you get here. I'd make a reservation for NYE as soon as you decide.Where should we be at midnight? Where are young fashionable people going to be? Calle 12 We know the BPM festival is going on and there are some dj's we like playing it, so there has to be a cool party for NYE right?I can imagine there were would be, and you should be able to find a lot of info on signage after your arrival, Playa is pretty laid back so you might not find out much in advance. Unfortunately I am neither young nor fashionable, so I'm not much help here.

4. We want to take a deep sea fishing trip, any recs?
Click here. We fish with the best outfit in the area.
5. What is the cost of jet skis?
I don't know, sorry.

6. What is there to do on Cozumel?
Dive, snorkel, ride around on scooters to the other side of the island to have lunch. I'm not a fan of Cozumel, as I'm not much of a diver, but lots of people like it.

Thanks for your help!! We are all 26-30 and live in Toronto. I'm so glad I found this forum...TripAdvisor has way too many AI questions cluttering up the info!
Please see answers above in blue.

Thanks for you help, you guys are funny! Older people are great, some of you really know how to party!! I just don't want to listen to classic rock We just got back from St Maarten and there were barely any young people there. I'm guessing this is because its expensive, but we had a great time!!

I'm not interested in diving or snorkeling, should I skip Cozumel? We did a lot in St Maarten between exploring all the beaches and partying at night and are trying to not try to do too much during this trip. We need to get some relaxing days w/ early nights in at least a few times during our two weeks there! I'm thinking we should skip Cozumel.

How far of a drive is Tulum?

Any great restaurants I should look for around Calle 28 and Avenida 10?

Also, regarding Cancun for the day, are there any beach bars we can hang out at with a nice beach? Should we do a day or half-day at an AI? We want to go wherever has the best beach!

Cozumel

There an awesome marine park/beach etc on Cozumel called CHANKANAAB MARINE PARK. It has one of the best beaches in the area. Several beach bars, swiming with dolphines (if your into that) etc. There's lots of up-scale shopping, restaurants and bars on Coz as well.

I wouldn't worry about taking the bus, they aren't gross and smelly likethe Greyhounds in Canada and the US. Much nicer.

If you want a gorgeous beach, go to Tulum or Xpu-Ha. Tulum is about an hour south and Xpu ha is about 20 minutes south of Playa. There are beach clubs at both locations. There are also beach clubs in Playa- Mamitas and Kool, which would be close to your location and they play techno music. Tons of great resturants and Bars in Playa. Check out the restraunt thread. I think you will be surprised at Playa, It's not the sleepy little town your thinking of.

Sounds like the new beach club Canibal Royal up north Of Shangri La & Mamitas might be your kind of place......

Lots of Bikini stores in town, I would'nt make a trip to Cancun for that....

I also love Xpu Ha beach.

I enjoyed Piola for dinner up in the North end at 38th and 5th Avenue last trip, good pasta and very good pizza.....

I also can recommend the ADO bus, plenty of young fashionable folks on it the last time I rode!

Check out the Peeps forum if you want to meet any of us old geezers while you're in town, have a great trip!

There are 4 of us, so we're okay w/ splitting the cost to get to Cancun. I'd rather pay more and be more comfortable. But thanks! And we definitely want to visit Cancun to see if we want to visit in the future, not just for bikini stores.

I certainly don't think of Playa as sleepy! I wouldn't have chosen it for my bday and NYE if I did, I like to have fun!

The bus is way nicer than a taxi! Nice big seats that recline, nicely air conditioned and they show a movie! Taxi= very small, sticky seats and hot.

I was going to say the same and add...the bus isn't going to speed out of control down 307 so that once you get out, you'll need a Xanax to calm you down!
