Tuesday, November 24, 2009:Today was the trip to Tulum with Vanessa. We (at least I was) were so excited!! We met everyone at Java Joes around 8:10 or so. We got a bagel and water to go. The vans got there and we hopped in and off we went. Unfortunately, Amie and Jason’s son got carsick so we had to drop off Amie and her son at the Soriana shopping center so that they could grab a taxi back to their hotel. She didn’t want us to have to turn around and go all the way back into town. I felt so bad for them. They got a taxi and we proceeded on our trip and arrived at paraiso beach. We settled into our nice big round bed. It was a bit cloudy and windy, but we didn’t care, we were in paradise! Then the wind picked up some more. Camille and I just covered ourselves with towels trying to shield ourselves from the bad sandblasting we were getting! Around 11:30 some 15 of us got in one of the vans and headed down the road to see Russell’s new hotel—Casa De Las Olas. What a beautiful place! We were greeted by the fabulous Heather, who will be running the place. We were also greeted by some wonderful tasty margaritas, chips and salsa. It was delicious. We took a tour of two of the rooms then we got to go to the beach. It was amazing! Of course the sun was out and no wind in sight! (figures right!) We chatted a little with Russell and Heather and then it was time to go back to El Paraiso but when we went back to the front, our driver had left! Heather had to call to have the driver come back to pick us up! ![]() After he picked us up, he dropped off most of our group at Mezzanines and he took Michael, Camille and I to El Pollo Bronco. That was some of the best chicken I’ve ever had! The potato was fabulous but the spaghetti was a tad salty, so we didn’t eat it. After lunch, the driver took us back to El Paraiso and when we were walking back, the guard told me that I couldn’t take food to the beach so I went back to the van and gave it to one of the drivers. I hope he didn’t throw it away! We hung out at El Paraiso for a little while longer. I went to the ladies room and I saw two ladies dressed in white dresses doing their hair and makeup. As I walked back to our bed, I noticed they were preparing an area under some palm trees for a wedding. A little after the wedding started, Penny and her friends noticed that Ty Pennington was sitting at a table with a group. The ladies went over and asked him if they could take his picture, but he declined. A little while later, we took a van back to Tulum pueblo to visit Vicente’s jewelry store. We all ooo’d and aaahh’d, at all the stuff. Some people bought some stuff and then it was time to head back to Playa. The van dropped us off at the corner by Java Joe’s. We then grabbed a taxi back to the condo, showered, changed and went to dinner at Babes. Michael had beer, Camille ordered some kind of Mango juice and I had the strawberry daiquiri. We ordered the chicken rolls and a small order of the Swedish meatballs—delicious! For our entrée’s Michael had the Pad Thai, Camille the Teriyaki (or sesame) Chicken and I had the pork fillet. Camille didn’t care for her dish, so she ordered a full order of the Swedish meatballs. Total was around $635. We walked around and shopped for Michael’s calendar some more and he finally found it. While we were in the store paying for it, it started pouring so we hailed a taxi backed to the condo. Luckily they found a big black trash bag to fit the calendar inside otherwise, it would have gotten damaged! We pretty much crashed as soon as we got home. What a fun filled day! Thank you Vanessa!! Hey Lucy! It was nice meeting you for all of 5 minutes on that trip! (The joys of parenting, huh?) Thanks for being understanding. I'm just glad Sam was sitting next to his uncle and not one of you guys!
And thanks for posting photos of the day! Great pic here of you and Michael. Of course I'm partial to the little surfer dude, too ![]()

Hi Amy!
yes, your other son had such a great time in the water! He was out there a lot!! I'm glad that he enjoyed that day. I was too busy hiding under my towel dodging the free exfoliation that we got. I swear I had sand EVERYWHERE... even in my ears!

Hi Heather! Yes, I remember that was a pic of your new pad... but I didn't want to post that on the board. But I'm glad you did!!
![]() Of course you can steal this pic... after all its your house! BTW Michael's daughter told everyone in the van when we left that she wanted to get married there (she's not even engaged though). I told her we could have the wedding somewhere else and she could have her honeymoon there! She liked that idea better.... not sure if Michael did though.
