Bar None, Best Dinner for Two... romantic, classy, ambiance????

I know there are some serious diners out there... great food critics too!!! If you wanted to take your date out for a very nice dinner, without regard for price... but wanted an amazing, amazing meal... glass or two of wine... nice setting with maybe a secluded candle lit table, where would it be??????

Snappy may be right about Alux having the best setting - but I hear that the food is mediocre at best - hearsay I admit

I vote for El Bistro at La Tortuga
By the pool.
Excellent food and wine list.

I've been curious about Alux for a while now... I'll put that on my list as a must do. I've never heard anything but good about anything having anything to do with La Tortuga... so that sounds like a winner. I'll do a search for menus.

thanks

Ditto from us. Best and most romantic meal so far in Playa and very affordable too. Got to see the beautiful Anna to boot !!

the setting can't be beat
the food and service were good
i took a friend there for her birthday, she was very happy there
we had no complaints
it is unique, there is no place like it
give yourself enough time to explore a little, it is really awesome
they could serve dirty water dogs and lonestar and it would be good

you can't go wrong with la tortuga, fo shizzle
but alux would be a more memorable experience

in fact, i just got an email that a friend will arrive 31 december and maybe i will take her there

Another vote for El Bistro.

I also love John Grey's Place on Calle Corazon.

Alux is unique.......we enjoy taking people there, that have never been before,
drinks are pricey but it's worth it for the setting.

El Bistro at La Tortuga is best value [food, service, ambiance] if your doing dinner [or breakfast]
Never had a bad experience at either place....we always make time for both.

To me, without a doubt, I would choose Pavo Real in Maroma (just off of 307) since you didn't specify it had to be in Playa. Saturday night is the night. Usually a trio (or other) playing (free) in their art gallery next to the restaurant (Amarte) then dining and dancing at P.R. Order from the menu or a fixed price dinner. Beautiful setting, excellent service and food, plus the entertainment and dancing - you can't beat it and less than a 15 minute ride.
Also, about the classiest setting around and some excellent wines.

My favourite setting of any restaurant in Playa is Playasia. I know it's a bit cheesy as opposed to sophisticated but I love the 'treehouse' atmosphere and watching the huge koi and catfish swiming underneath the tables....very neat. And the food is very good, not really too expensive either.

But we have not been to John Gray's Place.....I agree about El Bistro too, by the pool, very romantic and the food is great there.
