Internet cafe or hotel access

My wife and I will be visiting Playa Del Carmen during the first 2 weeks of February (2004), staying at the El Tukan. I am currently taking a university program online, and unfortunately need access to the internet during my stay. What are my options for logging on? Are there internet cafes? If so what are their locations and price? Are there reasonable phone lines at the El Tukan hotel, so I could log in with my laptop?
