How I gained 6 lbs in Playa, a pictorial illustration
THANKSGIVING EVE DAY, 11/25/2009 Let the eating begin. I take a ½ day of vacation so I can pick up Donna at 3pm. She works in Quincy IL, about 45 minutes south of our home, and on the way to the St Louis airport. ![]() ![]() We get to our cheapie park& fly hotel a little after 5 and check in. The room has no power along one wall, the wall with the TV, lights and coffee maker. Off to the front desk I go. The place is for the most part deserted and the young man running the desk is in the back trying to eat a pizza he just had delivered. I ring the bell and he appears and I tell him the problem. We get keys to a room across the hall. We are on the 4th floor and about 100 yards from the lobby. The heat in this room does not work and it’s 34 deg. outside. Again, back to the lobby and the front desk and ring the bell. I tell the young man that if this one has a problem then we deserve the presidential suite and he agrees. I get a key to the room next door, everything works in this room, but it has large what appears to be a coffee stain on the carpet. Other than that it is clean and the bed & linens are fairly new. The hotel, the Ramada Inn Airport, was a huge old Holiday Inn that is being slowly remodeled. The good thing about it is it’s $69 + tax a night with up to 14 days free parking and 24 hour a day airport shuttle, but no bar or restaurant. The shuttle will take you to one of the several places to eat that are close by if you want. We opt to drive ourselves and head off for one of our St Louis favorites for dinner. ![]() Rizzos Pasta is only about 10 minutes from our hotel. ![]() Donna has the special, parmesan crusted snapper & green beans side. ![]() My medium rare NY strip Modega with a side of pasta in a creamy garlic sauce Back to the hotel after dinner for a good nights sleep and get ready for our 5:30am shuttle to the airport.
