Paul & I went last week and it was the BEST meal that we had while in Playa! Paul had the Angus beef fillet with the Blue cheese sauce that was so good I could eat it with a spoon!!! Great service!! I will go back in a heartbeat!!

We were at Don Jose last week, first time since the sale-switch to french style-switch back. I can't comment on what things were like during that time.
As usual, prices are a bit high, expecially when the restaurant is not directly on '5th ave'. - 95 pesos for a large salad, 255 pesos for a filet, and then have to pay 40 pesos for your 'sides' (mashed potatoes etc). Since it was late in the evening, we were not too hungry and the two of us decided to share the salad and the side, each ordering the same filet minon ( it had been awhile since we had a good Angus steak!). The food was excellant, I can't compain about that...but...... Drinks - each of us had two drinks. Gin and Tonic for my husband and House rum and coke for me. Each drink cost $70pesos.... PLUS 20pesos for the mix! This is where we were upset. $70 pesos is already high, but adding the cost of the 'mix', its too much. So all in all, the place was quiet and great food, but I will have to save my pennies and go only on those VERY special occasions. |

It is no sense to argue with either Corona or Superior. Can't afford to lose our licquor license.... Mega and Wallmart, and the other chains have their own license where you will see lots of imported beer. |

Walked by Chicago's the last 4 days, not open any of those days, including a Fri and Sat night -- a local sitting on the curb gave the 'knife-across-the-throat' sign w/ his finger when I pointed at the door---is this another temporary closing??

Dahlia and Peter haven't had anything to do with Chicago for quite some time. They are still in town but doing other things. The new owners who bought the place last year ran into some personal trouble and had to call it quits. Too bad.
