Right now it's XTrain/Run/XTrain/Run/Xtrain/Rest/Long Run Day. I am pretty excited that I have everyday of working out mapped out until race day, that seems like it will make things a bit easier. I just need ideas for Cross-Training |

![]() But ask and ye shall receive: -switch up the running routine with a big hill climb repeat workout, or a track workout -weight lifting in a circuit/cardio training routine -cycling -swimming -kettlebell workout -rollerblading -rowing (machines at the gym, or for real out on the water) -canoeing/kayaking (just for JG )-trail running -hiking -racquetball (great workout by yourself, just shut yourself in the court and try to hit the ball as many times in a row as you can w/o letting it bounce twice between hits. You'll be sweating within 5 minutes!) |

You're going to want to go out and ride until you pass out, then get up and keep riding when it's done. To see that lead group spin up those hills the way they do is so inspiring! ![]() I watched it again yesterday on the plane.

Thanks Nick I think that I will mainly keep my Cross-Training to Swimming/Weights/Cycling. Those are all activities that I enjoy |

Good to see your plan TJ and PG has some good x-training ideas.
I've been a bit quiet as I haven't had as much to report. I wrecked my achilles about a month ago so I've be mainly doing short runs and skipping hills and speed works - in other words it has been boring! Going to PT on it now though, I'm sick of the pain. Only 7 months until I have to race Jimmie Johnson so I have to get this thing fixed! |

Good job. Swimming's great. It gives you such a good workout and no impact on your legs. I really need to find a place to swim this winter. One thing I would say about swimming is to really try to keep good form. It's better to do shorter repeats with good form then just pound out a real long distance with bad form.

![]() Was in Louisville all week this week. Brought the bike gear with plans to rent a road bike. Went in to the shop I talked to, did all the paperwork and had my pedals put on the bike, then he said "I need a credit card for your security deposit..." "Okay. How much is the deposit?" "We need to cover the cost of the bike while you have it, so we need to hold $2200 worth of funds." "$2200?!?! ""Yeah, I suppose I should have mentioned that before. Sorry." Yes, it's just a deposit and I get it back when I return it, but I don't carry personal credit cards anymore (was terrible with them, just decided to cut 'em up). If I were to use my debit card, the funds are tied up for up to 5 days as an authorization. I just didn't feel comfortable playing with that much money, so I got my pedals back and just went for a fast run back in Cherokee Park again. Posted on a local MTB forum, and found another shop that rents mountain bikes. Much more laid back, no security deposit (just hold on to your ID while you're out), so I'm going to bring my MTB pedals next week and check out the trails. So, I'm going on 7 days without riding a bike I've gotten 3 really good runs in, but I'm going kind of crazy!

Off for a little run now, and then to shower up and shave naked in front of the mirror, in my own bathroom that is. |
