Killed it!
Another great tri tonight. I beat my time from last week by 2 mins -- my watch only shows hours & minutes once I go over the hour mark so had to do some rough math (and my math skills suck). Anyway, I set a goal and I met it!! VERY PLEASED WITH MYSELF!
Finished @ 1 hour 15 minutes -- last week was 1 hour 17 minutes -- 1st week was 1 hour 22 minutes Goal by season end = 1 hour 12 minutes Here's the low down: Swim: 12:19:21 (including run to transition) -- this is an improvement of 12 seconds -- last week was 12:31 T1 1:22:19 (killed last week - 1:52:13) Bike: 30:30:26 -- last week 31:08 -- improvement of 38 seconds -- Dudes, I left it all out there. I can maybe make up 20 more seconds next week but I'd be surprised. I killed it. I passed so many people this go around it was nuts. I hammered the single track. There was maybe one passing opportunity I could have taken but didn't but not sure how much better the outcome would have been. T2 49:20 -- killed it! Last week was 1:09:07. It was messy - dumped my bike instead of racking it (i know, i know but there was plenty of room and didn't not impede anyone's way), then stepped in my helmet and almost snapped my ankle but was quick as a bunny!Run: 30:37:70 -- improvement of 19 seconds over last week. I can improve here. I had to walk a couple of seconds here and there in the beginning but then did my short steps to get my heart rate under control. About 1/2 way through, this girl caught me and hung with me. We're about the same pace on everything but she's a little faster on the run. We started talking (barely b/c we were puffing) but she was a great motivator with a fantastic pace and before I knew it my strides were lengthening a bit and we were chugging along. Told her I was hoping to beat last week's time and she said, "Oh, you will. Don't you worry. We'll get you there". The distraction of keeping up with her helped me get through some of the pain I was feeling from pushing the MTB portions. Love girl power! We cross the finish line together -- with completely empty tanks. Gave each other high fives and went out separate ways. Hubby asked if we had a big make out session. Um..no..perv. He was disappointed. Next time I tell him about my triathlon, I throw in some oil wrestling & pillow fights just to keep him interested! ![]() Super psyched about my race! Thanks for all your support! The only reason I was pushing myself on the run was so I could come here and post that I beat my times. ![]() Hey, whatever gets me across the finish line faster!!

JG is smiling as always after reading a Becca report. I was already smiling by the time I got to the make out comments, and those comments put me into full smile mode.
Great work! You are a fricking machine! Just loved it how you described having an empty tank at the end, I don't do that nearly enough so I always admire those who lay it all on the line. ![]() JG |

Now that you put it that way, I guess it really could be looked at as kind of creepy...I'm now imagining the circle as a bunch of zombies smelling me coming out through the woods and making a circle to lure me into their trap. "Alright, everyone wipe off the blood and stop drooling and moaning for a few seconds. After the first hill climb...BRAAAAIIIINNNSSSS!!!! /geek Quote:

Okay, Minnesota Peeps, this is the next race I'm targeting. Run a 5K in front of tens of thousands and people and then we go out and drink some beer. First couple rounds are on me. Who is game? It is an awesome event. I of course am sending this mainly to PG, Kalli, and fireinmn, but it sounded cooler to just address it to Minnesota Peeps. We could probably get a couple other Peeps to meet us for beers after. Life Time Fitness Torchlight 5k |

![]() Reminds me of HS when we voted class clown and "most likely to succeed" and "most likely to live at home." There was also a category "Most unique." The girl that won it, who was well loved by everyone and a crack to talk to each and every day, accepted her award by saying, "I know that this really means 'Weirdest,' but I accept it anyway." ![]() As for the LTF 5k, it sounds very intriguing...especially if you're getting the first couple rounds... I know I'm traveling that week for work, but I'm not sure which days yet. Let me think a little... |

And good luck trying to loosen up a 6-month-pregnant woman in the middle of the July heat after her husband just went and ran a race and is now drinking beer, then trying to convince her that it would be a good idea to leave the kiddos behind...one of which will be 3 months old... If you can pull this off, YOU will be MY jedi master.
