Great job Becca.
Good news for me. After 6 weeks off because of twisted ankle I finally got a bike ride in today. 10 miles on the mountain bike. And, Today's weight in was 190.5 lbs., lowest in months. Have been mostly just doing a lot of yard work and having smaller meals.

CONGRATULATIONS!!! Welcome back!

Ok - after "JGs Diet From Hell" which I very loosely followed after day 5, I am down 6.4 pounds. I definitely could have lost more if I was more diligent on Day 6 but we went to a party and while I definitely controlled my food intake, I ate outside the plan.

Starting yesterday, I'm continuing the life style change (not diet) by eating smaller meals, fewer snacks, and healthier choices.

Today, I went to a 45 minute spinning class. It was KILLER! It was the hardest spin class I've ever taken because the instructor was a BEAST! I swear she had a monitor on my bike and knew if I tried to sneak in a little break! I've never had a class where I sweat as much as I did tonight and where I felt like I was going to puke the ENTIRE class -- including during the cool down. It was awesome!

I'm going again tomorrow for another spin from hell class!

after 5 weeks off due to a bad foot i finally ran on saturday. i only went 1.05 miles in around 9 minutes. my foot hurt and i had to stop. rested it two days and ran tonight pain free for the first time in along time. made it 1.5 miles tonight.
the diet from hell sounds like a full on buffet compared to the liquid diet.
glad to be back.

Which is why you'll never catch me doing the liquid diet!

Glad you're back!

Great work Becca!

Glad you guys are recovering DavidB and jevans!

I have come to the realization that I am not going to beat Jimmie this year. I am pretty sure I can get sub 7:30's (which would be a new PR), but I won't be able to hit 7's. I am just not light enough and haven't been training hard enough. Not badly, mind you, just not enough. I'm okay with it, I am still enjoying running and working out. I'll give him another run at a later date.

Crap.

A close friend of Bean and I (probably going to be one of Lola's godparents) is assembling a group of guys to run the Chicago Marathon next year...and has now set his sights on getting me to commit to it.

My best man now lives in Chicago and dropped the hint a month or two ago that he might do it next year too.

It's an October marathon, meaning the bulk of my training will be in late summer...after cycling/triathlon season (which is what I want to focus on next year).

I don't think I have any excuses to get out of it

I want you to run it. Only because it would make for good discussion on next year's version of this thread.

Well, if I do decide to do it, I promise to kick-start my old blog again to help motivate me to keep my training on track. I'd keep updates on here too, for discussion's sake, and for your entertainment JG , but I tend to get really in depth (and off tangent) on some things on my blog because nobody really reads it and I can write whatever I want to .

And I promise to actually follow a true marathon training regimen and report the results. Maybe even break out of my comfort zone and try something other than Hal Higdon...

The standard 18-week plan would start in June...

...I guess I need to re-evaluate my goals and training timelines for next year.

Did I just decide to do it?!

When is the 2011 thread opening again??

Spinning instructors are the most sadistic people on earth!

I bet you can do your taxes faster than he can though!

No black out partying the night before the big race and I still think you can take a run at his time though...

It is really going to come down to how bad I want it. Honestly, I don't know that I want to puke at the finish in order to beat him. I'd rather train where I could be spent (but not puking) at the finish in order to beat him.

Today was a fun workout. TG and I drove to the gym together, and then I worked my legs hard and then ran the 4 miles home.

Wouldn't we all rather train to be able to comfortably beat our competition?!
