TJ- up at 5:30 to work out You are my hero, you hard core exerciser, you Nice work!!

JG- booze and junk food'll getcha every time Why do you think I "struggle" (that would imply that I'm actually trying to do something about it) with my weight? I'll NEVER be a skinny mini because red wine and carbs are my bffs Nice workout, though! I ran 4 miles on SORE legs today (after an intense cardio/weight session last night) and it was NOT fun. Well, it kinda was (the oxen were out!! I love the oxen!!), but now I'm hobbling. Ouch.

Sorry, we're all metrificated here. 4:30/mile is a dead run for me, maybe I could keep it up for 200 m before puking a lung? I don't think I could break 6 min for even 1 mile.

it's meaningless without a pic of you in your Santa hat and candy cane boxers
Unfortunately, no such pic exists. I have no idea why we didn't take one!

Good god, that's fast I would puke well before 200m, that's for sure! And I can't believe you didn't take a picture- what were you thinking?!

Hmmm...

This has got me thinking that we need to boost our race report requirements for 2011, threadmaster JG...to including a picture of you in your race garb at some point before/during/directly after the race in the report.

You know...the whole "pics or it didn't happen" mantra

I realize it's hard when you're doing a race solo or are participating in a large event where it's hard to meet up with a non-racer to take your pic...but I do know quite a few people that say "I wish I would have taken some pictures of that day." Might help motivate people to document achievements??

But more importantly, it gives us some highly entertaining reading material after the fact

My BIL picked up a pair of running show shoes last weekend.

I'm interested in his observations... very interested...

Haven't done squat since hockey on Tuesday night. Time for a big workout weekend to kick start my winter regimen I'm thinkin'...

Want some inspiration?

A pic from my friend that I have ran the last 3 Ragnars with, and who has qualified for the last two Boston Marathons (ran one last spring, running the second this spring).

Her caption: "They're taking over my house!"

My comment: "They aren't dirty enough..."

Her response: "Each of these shoes, with the exception of the newest pair on the right, have run at least one marathon. I haven't had time to get them dirty!"

These are her shoes from just the last two years, btw. She's ran 5 marathons (plus the longest running assignment in Ragnar, 23 miles) in 2010.

She just started running 3 years ago . Hadn't run farther than 3 miles on a treadmill until then (college hockey player).

Good work ya'll. PG doing a marathon has me a bit intrigrued when I think of my schedule for 2011. Just a bit, though...

I had my annual Thanksgiving race in 4 days. Should be a lot of fun. I won't beat Jimmie due to not training hard enough and not losing enough wait, but it should be fun to see if I can PR. Should be fairly cold (which I love), hopefully the roads aren't slick as they are projecting snow.

Pics do add a lot. Even just a cell phone pic in the parking lot taken by some stranger right before/after the race.

¡Hola mis amigos!

I've been out of the loop for a week or so. Checking in and seeing what's going on but not posting. I haven't been as active this past week as I would have liked. Pulled some ridiculously longs days at work and VERY closed to saying bye bye Corporate America and hello one year off from the real world spent in a tropical location.

Anywho, I was up in Maine yesterday and went to the HUGE LL Bean store in Freeport. Picked myself up a headlamp -- OH YEAH Baby! No excuse for not taking a night run. I've got a light & 120 pound rottweiler to protect me from being abducted by aliens. Now, he is a bit pokey but that's OK. I just need to get some mileage on my treads!

Oh, and check out the trip counter in my sig. THAT'S RIGHT SUCKERS! Less than 2 weeks to go!

~~~ PG - Love the photo of the running sneaks. I have been weeding my running shoe collection down. They're in a bag waiting to be recycled. My gym usually collects them for recycling into playground material.
