Really anything is so nice.

Hola TnTWalter, Thanks for your kind comments aboput our welcome basket. I sneak in the storage room and taste test the gummies every so often. I would get rid of the microwave popcorn....it should be outlawed, and soon will be. Think of a local snack maybe...

Individually wrapped wet naps. Very handy and easy to stick in a purse or pocket when you go out. And a little sewing kit.

You are definately on the right track.

For my two cents (pesos).. I am always impressed by companies that support local business. The Coffee Cafe is a great spot.. items such as that gift card are a fab idea and get people to go out and enjoy what Playa has to offer. How about more stuff like that in addition to the sun gels and bug spray and spa stuff... i think you would have the perfect low maintenance basket!

Thanks for you input Lady A, I must show my ignorance, what is the problem with microwave popcorn?

We do an inspection of the welcome baskets as they return so we can see what is being used and what is not. I must say that the popcorn gets used most of the time. Maybe it's because we are all too lazy to do it the old fashioned way.

Thanks for your input wolfpf. Great ideas, we will be looking for a source of supply for both of your suggestions.

Thanks for your input sunstarved. We are presently soliciting discount coupons from local business to put in our baskets. One of the first questions we are asked when our guests arrive is, where would you recommend we go eat? Good local businesses deserve good representation. We are taste testing many local eateries and will be featuring them on our website soon.

Hope to see your smiling face soon. M & A

Okay when I was a TA I did one thing that just made a clients trip, not so much when they rec'd it but once at destination. I always went online to the Top 10 lists for the area visiting had a good look and tried to find one or combined a few together to match the client, I did add websites, like this one, where one can purchase the tickets etc for the top 10 adventures on my list. All I did was save it to a file so whenever someone else came I could access it, adjust it and then save the old and new.

For Example:

Best place to use ATM, Exchange $$, etc
Taxi Fares per zone: I am still shocked at what a newbie will pay for a short cab ride.
Groceries: Chedruali: Spanish Speaking has almost everything for kitchen, bar and beach, location and cost for the taxi from Condo.
Walmart: Huge, higher priced than some of the Mexican Big Box has most everything. location and cost for taxi from Condo.

Beach Clubs: Location, style and cost;

Eco type fun:
Crocacun THIS IS MY ABSOLUTE FAVORITE FOR: HOLY CRAP, TOUCHING OF STUFF, I DON'T LIKE TO TOUCH, BUT MY BOYS DO. WE TAKE EVERYONE WE BRING TO PLAYA AND MAHAHUAL TO CROCACUN......WALKING WITH CROCODILES.

Commercial Type Fun:
Explor, Hidden Worlds etc

Water Fun:
Fat Cat, Fishing etc Yal Kool Lagoon and Buena Vida Akumal

Maybe you have a business relationship with some of the above maybe not. For your client it is so nice to feel as though you have a starting point when you arrive to a new area and one feels a bit more in control when they have the opportunity to choose something based on a recommendation.

The best thing about the list is it costs a bit of time, thoughtfulness, paper and ink. I think this is a simple addition once it is completed, takes a bit of time but once it is done a yearly update is all you need and it helps the clients become familiar quicker and the result will be return visits....I know it worked for me....although the control freak I am I made my own list .
Hola Wilfam, From one control freak to another, "thank you very much for your input"! We are currently working on a map and a connection with a beach club for a very small fee for our clients. We have been doing a lot of taste testing at local eating establishments and will be posting their location and any and all positive experiences, mess up and they won't make our list! I am looking forward to the site inspections of the theme parks. I am waiting for a visit from my 13 year old Grandaughter in April to take my first visit to Crocacun, I hear it is a lot of fun. Thanks again, M & A

This is what Lady A is talking about. It may seem trivial to some but eating chemicals in your diet cannot be good for you.

Based on what I forgot and needed the SECOND we got to Playa:

Peanut Shelter beer coozies?

Small bag of Mexican Cheetoes. (They're just the best ever!)

Is there a theme here?

This I needed later:

Disposable dirty laundry bag? IE big garbage bag. Why do I always forget mine!!?

Thumbs up Arrival Basket

Great job...ditch the popcorn...most people want a taste of local fare. I'd add a list of your favorites...favorite cafes, shops, day trips, products, maybe some background info on the area with a detailed local street map and some typical Spanish words. Key websites are also great to have. Any local products (sample size) or discounts on these is always a nice addition. Mini sunscreen and/or hand sanitizer. One of those dry small face clothes ( I have one that looks like a 2" x 2" square with a cartoon character on it that gets big when I wet it the first time.)

Hola nsbirdie, Thank you so much for your input. I guess we are almost there. We do have local discounts, mini sunscreen and after sun lotion and hand sanitizer. We are working on the map with favorite spots and positive reviews on eating places. We will probably ditch the popcorn when we deplete our stock. We are now looking for the facecloth in bulk. Thanks to everyone for your input and especially to those who have had the opportunity to enjoy our Welcome Basket. M & A
