hi AIROHS!

i'm electric too and am going back for my 6th visit this april. have been to IB Tucan, Sandos and RIU Tequila.... haven't been to H1...is it in playacar? if so you'll have no trouble getting around or into town.

i'd be glad to answer any questions you have.

are your wheelz in chair or scooter form?

oh, and welcome to the best forum!

i tend to be online here more this time of year, reading trip reports and getting psyched for my trip.

oooo a Palace Riu, Fancy! i thought the Tequila was great. good wheel-in shower so i'm sure the palace will be great too. if you want more info on your hotel, check the reports on here and at riubambu dot com.

glad my report helped. have you got airport transfers arranged? i found out about a new company in 2008 that has a full size van with a ramp...makes the trip to hotel painless. cancunaccesible dot com. site is in Spanish but Judith will reply to English enquiries in English.

when are you going?

sounds great!

a word of caution: if you are going on a package deal with transfers incl. that means a big bus that you'll have to be carried onto and chair stored underneath. if they tell you they have arranged separate transportation for you, it'll be a full size van you still have to be lifted into...chair goes in back.

just so you know what to expect.

i'd also suggest e-mailing the riu directly the week before you go to give them a friendly reminder that you require an accessible room (your ta should e-mail too) it never hurts to get a specific person to be aware of your requirements. i'm sure they get hundreds of e-mails from people requesting this that and everything, but if you get a contact person, you can make it more personal. they won't Guarantee your request, but hopefully they will be more aware.

have a great trip!
