local buses (30/30 buses)
I couldn't find any info on this before visiting Playa, so thought I'd share what I've now learned. Local buses go up and down 30 th Avenida and to the 2 big malls, Plaza Los Americas Mall and Centro Maya Mall (also where the movie theaters are) 5 pesos, pay onboard, they make change, go by constantly and stop anywhere. The destinations are on the windshields. There are big buses and small the same, but the small ones pack people in and aren't as comfy. I don't know what time they start and stop, but I'm sure someone else can add more to this

Thanks for the info, good to know! They sound like they are run like they are in Puerto Vallarta, cheap, and easy to navigate once you get familiar with the destinations on the windshield. I loved taking the bus in PVR, and want to explore more of the Playa city life.

I ride them often, and had a funny experience to share a while back.

Yup...I rode it to the movie theater at Las Americas one night, 10 pesos round trip. Of course, the ride there took about an hour, with all the stops through the neighborhoods at rush hour, but can't beat the price!
