Carry on/ personal items on Sun Country Questions
I have searched EVERYWHERE for this info- cannot find it!!
I know about the size, etc for the 1 item carry on, but I need to know how big my additional "personal item" can be. (Were flying Sun Country both ways) Can it be a backpack almost as big as my carry on? I have a wheeled suitcase that is literally a little over an inch too big to check, and I am not going to pay $75 each way for it. We wanted to check a bag so that we could bring shavers and things like that, but I guess we can just buy it when we get there! I guess if I have to, Ill go buy luggage that I can check. Any info would be super helpful and thanks in advance! |

Suncountry baggage
Hi there, we always fly Suncounty out of DFW. The last time we flew out was May 2009. Hubby and I combined one bag to check with clothes etc....and we both carried on a carryon size bag with other stuff. Make sure if you check a bag that it doesn't exceed 50 lbs because they will charge you the crazy overage charge. One the way back from Cancun, the bag was 6 lbs over so I had to unpack and carry some snorkel equipment on. The bag was still at 51 lbs but he let us slide. I also carried a small backback as my purse. Hope this helps.

I think it really depends on so many factors: the airline rules, the staff working that day, how full the plane is, etc. I've seen a person with a roller carryon suitcase who said it was the exact measurements listed on the airline's website, but it wouldn't quite fit in the cage thingie at the checkin... and they made him check it. *shrug*
Most airlines say that your personal item has to be able to completely fit under the seat in front of you. |

I think that they are more strict with the weight than the size of checked luggage. If your suitcase is an inch over, they are not going to notice as long as it is under 50 pounds. We flew them in December and took our large suitcase. I have never actually measured it, but it is the largest of a typical set of suitcases.
