Well, fries with white truffle oil. White truffles are the least mature or youngest, gray truffles are older and more mature, and chocolate truffles are the mot mature/oldest and can cost thousands of dollars per ounce. Can't imagine what fries at Caninbal Royal would cost if they came with "chocolate" truffle oil

We prefer the south beach clubs. Mamita's and Kool are a bit of a meat market and the south end clubs have a funky vibe. Prices are cheaper and I think the beach is just as good for swimming as the north end. Gimmie the funk!

Wicky's is my favorite, the sea is much better than at Coco Maya, pretty much the same beach as they are not to far from each other. Wicky's is to the South of Coco Maya at El Faro Encanto.
Coco Maya is so shallow one has a hard time having a swimmng and if you venture to the South or North off the shallow spot you hurt your feet on the rocks, but we loved the swimming out front of Wicky's. There was shallowness to the North and a bit deaper just to the Southend of the Chairs and all sand. We paid $20.00 per chair, only if we did not consume $20 of food and beverages if $20 of food and beverages were consumed the loungers were at no charge. We did not have 20 chairs, as the kids liked lounging on the towels and did not sit much There were 20 of us and we wished we had not wasted 2 days at Coco Maya once we found Wicky's. Very Clean and the live music they provide was fantastic we had a nice gentleman who played guitar and sang great songs by great artists, total beach and surf sounds and then when he was done we had the Nasty Bastards one afternoon, they are fantastic it was the first time I had heard them play. Bonus no Techno Music (whatever that is called ) as Coco Maya was the same beat all day long with no change in anything, I am speaking words of a group who ranged from 1 year to 70 yrs with the majority group between 14 and 16 so please don't take offense, its just the way it was.The service and the food at Wicky's was outstanding, the Grilled Cheese and Hamburgers WOW. I would recommend Wicky's without a problem on this board. My husband and I are 45 and 43 with 2 boys 16 and 14 and opted to stay off the beach to save some $$ and we were very happy to have our free shuttle drop us at Wicky's instead of Coco Maya. I really craved Lemons at the end of our trip and Wicky's made me a frozen lemonade with Absolute, wow did that hit the spot. Oh I can't wait to get back to Playa |

We really enjoyed Wickys in December. They did not charge then for the loungers and umbrellas. I have read here that they charge 150 pesos for 2 but as long as you spend that much there is no charge. The swimming was great there then. See my trip report for many photos from there.

I was interested in going to Wicky's but I heard it was pricey, is that true or was it similar to other beach clubs? Do you remember how much a beer or hamburger was? JG |

Burgers were 70 to 90 pesos, but really JG, they were huge, you could easily split one, I think the beer was about 30 pesos. I don't think they were any pricier at lunch than Fusion for example. |
