Great trip report!

Hello, this is Warren aka PlayaRocks just starting to read your trip reports. WOW. Excellent pictures. Thanks from all of us for sharing!

I remember checking out HOSTEL COLORES MEXICANOS some time in the past. The place has REALLY been upgraded. It looks wonderful, colorful and clean.

You really make us feel like we're right there with you. I love your spirit of adventure.

Even better is how you swing it on a budget and have a great time. I walked by your hotel when we were there last and I thought, "Hmm, I wonder what that's like on the inside?" It looks great! Loved your report about Tulum - we've never ventured beyond El Paraiso because it's so comfy and lovely there. Each time we say, well that was a little spendy, but it's worth it. Nice to see and hear about alternatives.

Sooooo many people say, "Oh, gosh, I wish WE could afford to go to Mexico . . ." with a to accompany their sighs. We all know it's a matter of priorities and we may not get to go quite as often as we'd like (we're really lucky this year) but we all try to make it when it's possible. My theory is, it's cheaper than therapy!. We seriously need a new driveway and our kitchen is also in need of attention. We don't even have a dishwasher, but you know, the trip to Mexico (or where ever) will trump a new driveway every time in my book.

Thanks again for taking us with you!
Thanks! Yes, the attitudes about affordability for any type of travel is all in the persons perspective. My advise is...You wanna go?...well then make it happen, skip the AI, eat at taco stands, buy a 6 pack at the party store, head to the beach and sleep in a budget hotel! The "cheaper than therapy" advise is so true!!!

Warren, yes, I've heard that it has been upgraded. Its amazing what a little paint will do to a place! It was clean and comfortable, which all that matters to us!

Yes, the best one is on 30th and 30th or 32nd (??). We usually go to the one on Constituyentes right before 30th (right next door to HC de Monterrey another must!) and there is another one on 30th in front of Mega I believe. I'll have to look into it and find out exact locations and I will edit this post.

ok, here is the locations right from list of places to eat:

El Fogon- Tacos al pastor. 3 locations: 15th Ave and 6th St (across from Wal-Mart), Constituciones and 30th (across from the Mega) and the original at 30th Ave near 32nd St. . Fantastic!! Makes everyone’s favorite list for legitimate Mexican food at a good price. Everything here is excellent, and the frijoles charros (bean soup) is something I dream about. You might have to wait for a table, but it is worth it. This reviewer thinks that the original location on 30th and 32nd is just a bit better than the new clones.

Just so no one gets confused when trying to find this most excellent restaurant, the location on 6th is actually on 30th ave and not 15th. In fact, that is the El Fogon we went to with the author of this trip report.

Good eye JanuaryGuy, I didn't notice that. I did get the stores wrong (wasn't sure if it was in front of Mega or Walmart)

Funny thing is, when we went back in November we went to the exact same places as in June..... except for La Kalaka that was the only "new" place we tried.

That is what is great about Playa ssssoooo many delicious restaurants to try!!

Great trip report. One thing great about PDC is that it fits all kinds of budget and it's up to you to decide how much you want to spend.

I am SO sorry! November? It will be cold in the USA again by then.

OK, when I go I'll have an El Fogon taco and a cold beer in your honor. Maybe more than one of both.

Thank You!

Just wanted to thank Beth and Scott (and all) for posting and sharing adventures with us.

Reading your report and seeing these pictures just about drives me nuts.

Yesterday after reading your trip report I went home and packed. 25 days out and already packed. Today I will go home and move my bag by the front door. Or maybe pack again. Laughs!

Everyone is so nice here!

Cheers!

Warren

Yeah, this year we could only go once.

Well you can drink all the beer you want, I won't be jealous...(I'm not a beer drinker). But do try to do a trip report and take plenty of pictures of your food!! Yeah you'll feel funny/weird doing that.... but WE all love trip reports with food pictures!
