I think it is great that they are willing to spend their resources and time to help out disadvantaged children. But isn't there plenty of children right here in this country that could use good parents? It's almost that it is a new status symbol for the hollywood crowd. Is Madonna really compelled to help out a child from Africa or is it the "new" cool thing to have one, is it a possession, a status symbol to show the world how kind and great you are... And if she really wanted to help out a child over there why not a true orphan, one that doesn't have a mom or dad.

Exactly....there are plenty of African American children available for adoption, but most American couples looking to adopt choose International adoption instead.
I recall seeing a show on Dateline a couple years ago about this phenomenon....many Canadian and European couples adopt black American babies, while American couples adopt white babies from Romania, etc instead.
