Anytime a celebrity does anything, it makes the tabloids. They could fart in a restaurant and it would be on page three of The Sun. In turn, if they are going through something as complicated and serious as an adoption, of course it's going to catch the attention of the media and public. edit: For this reason, I don't think that Angelina or Madonna have done this for publicity reasons or because international babies are the current chic accessories.

As for this situation, the father was asked many times if he understood the procedures and what was going to take place, and each time he said 'yes.' Illiterate or not, he could have easily asked, "when will he be returning?"

And obviously he wanted a better life filled with opportunities for his son, if he put him in the orphanage - where children are available for adoption. One would think he would have a hell of a lot more chances in succeeding in life with Madonna than back in his home country.
I guess I just think a child's biological parents (if they are capable, and not abusive or anything of course) are the best choice to raise a child, not just the people who have money and can pay the most for the baby.

Don't kid yourself, there is a LOT of corruption in the international adoption arena. Women are often coerced into giving up their children, etc. so rich white couples can adopt them. If you think that is justified because they are rich and white and will therefore be able to 'give them a better life', hey- who am I to argue.

And it might also be advantageous to couples looking to adopt to look within their own country's borders first...why wouldn't they?
