I'd ask where the Like button is, except I don't facebook either and don't know what the hell a Like button is.

And there is a lot of sharing of great articles and videos.
True, there can also be a bit of b.s., but it's easy to skim over.

Facebook is great for posting beer inspired meme's on Brent's page. That is why I got it.

You and a billion people apparently think it's great. For me it serves no purpose and I don't believe I'm missing anything. The company I work for has a page, but it's there just to say we have one, and I don't see that it really generates any business. I've had some people suggest it would be good for me to promote my photography, but I think there are better ways to do that. Facebook obviously works for people and I don't have any problem with it, it's just not something I need for myself.

You never know. A friend of mine used social media (local forum and facebook) to show his photography and is now the "go to" guy for photos of Dallas. He also has MANY of his photographs displayed in the downtown Omni hotel throughout the building, is featured in articles, magazines and news outlets in our area, and is holding gallery showings of his work.

I'm on FB, but sometimes I worry about my stuff/info being "out there". But that could just be the conspiracy theorist in me

My neighbor is a professional photographer and she's said that promoting through facebook has been terrific. I think that a lot of individual artists and writers have a separate page (not their personal one) for this purpose.

Justin's photography and post processing skills are spectacular, and my guess is that the quality of work he does has made him the go to guy in Dallas. I would never contend that Facebook did not help Justin, but I would guess he's be just as successful without it. I wish my skills were close to the level of his. I use internet forums to get my name out there, just don't see a need for Facebook, at least at this time. For me, it has mostly been word of mouth that has brought some business my way.

I recently shot a look book for a company that is starting a international retail line of outdoor mens clothing. The book has been shown so far in Germany, South Korea and this last week in Beijing. That book has generated a few calls. Just to note, I am only a pro in the sense that I get paid on occasion to do some work, so I don't really feel completely comfortable calling myself one at this stage. The company did send me a photo of a couple of 7' banners they had made for international trade shows. Kind of fun to see my work being used like that.

Sorry for taking this thread off topic.
