On the good side: my work has been exciting again this week.
Good that you are enjoying your work....

I have a sore throat, drippy nose, didn't go to work today. I was just told citrus is good for sore throats. You guessed it, I'm having a margy.
I said "better than" wine for sore throats
So, do you feel better yet?

I used to backpack a lot in the Angeles Crest mountains east of Pasadena. It was quite an experience to eat mushrooms, and hike in by moonlight. There was one section that went up a ridge line and led to a narrow trail along a cliff. 2 feet wide, and 100 up from the canyon floor. I knew that trail so well I could do it with my eyes closed. (With a 70 pound pack.) I think now I would not be able to do it at all. Just thinking of walking a 2 foot wide ledge, 100 feet up would make my knees buckle. Oh, to be young and invincible again.

Switzer Falls, Bear Canyon. In the 1920's it was a resort area for the Hollywood elite. Floods, earthquakes, and the depression wiped it off the map. You could hike in for miles. No roads. Sheer cliffs on either side. You would come across bits of road sticking up out of the creek. An occasional frame from a model T half buried and overgrown. A small creek ran through the middle until you reached the pools. 4 pools carved out of the granite into perfect bowls the size of swimming pools about 10 feet deep. It was a magical place. (No pun intended.)

The "trailblazing" on shrooms was not the norm. Only a couple times out of a hundred trips.

We would pack in a frozen turkey on holidays and cook it in a pit and celebrate the holidays there. One Christmas, we packed gifts, a turkey, and various fruits. (Apples, oranges and cranberries.) We decorated a small pine tree with the fruit as ornaments and placed the gifts under the tree. We pit cooked the turkey and shared a bottle of whiskey and opened gifts. The thought was we would leave tree decorated for the forest creatures to eat after we packed out. I was a most memorable Christmas.

We're making a home-made smoked chicken and veggie whole wheat crust pizza. Oh, also a big head of roasted garlic cloves.

I get two slices with crust and two slices with the good stuff scraped off the crust

We'll have left-over parmesan, fontina, provolone, asiago and mozzarella cheese, so I also bought an eggplant and we'll do eggplant parmigiana tomorrow

Taking Advil.
Not doing anything, I hate not doing anything.

Noticed a WW thread on the main forum. I answered, discretely.

Wow! This is it. Looks a lot more popular than when I was doing it 25 years ago. I actually learned many of my outdoor and angling skills right here. What a great place.

Hey Peeps,

I haven't been on this thread as much due to the combination of tax season and various weekend events.

Did 5 tax returns today so I'm now enjoying a Summit extra pale ale beer (local) and will follow it with a glass of Spanish tempranillo. Then will be hitting the hay to get up early for a couple more tax returns. Gotta get those out of the way because I suppose I should think about packing.

I usually start packing at 9PM the night before our AM flight to Playa. So, I've got lots of time still.

Casserole? I thought we only made that in Minnesota? Do you guys make Hotdish as well?
