Places south of Playa Del Carmen

We are staying in PDC for a week and then would like to travel south of PDC for a second week and stay at inexpensive places with nice beaches and not so commercial. Any ideas? Thx

Tulum has some of the most beautiful beaches in the world!

The most beautiful beach I have ever seen was Xpu Ha approx. 1/2 south of Playa del Carmen.

The water is such a beautiful color...






Another of of my fav's is Paamul- approx 15 mins. south of Playa. They have a beach pool with a restaurant on site. Some corona commercials were filmed here.

Xpu Ha is indeed stunning. There is a great little hotel next door to Catalonia Royal Tulum - I can't recall the name, but it looked great- I am sure if you google it you could find it, there aren't many places to stay on this beach. If you go further south, there is Akumal and Half Moon bay - not roughing it by any means, really beautiful beaches and great snorkeling off the shore. And as you continue, another favorite and beautiful beach is Soliman Bay. A few funky places to stay on the beach are there also. I use Locogringo a lot for anything south of playa...They are quite knowledgeable and have rentals on the board also. If you aren't interested in anything they list, just post a question and you will get lots of responses (many quite passionate too!).
