El Dorado Surprise!

Hello from East Texas! My wife and I have been to Cancun but for the past few years we have been vacationing in Ixtapa. Cancun was fun but we're not the partiers we once were and spring break in Cancun doesn't hold the attraction that it used to. We like the laid back atmosphere in Ixtapa/Zihua. Just feels more like Mexico to us.

We've never been to Playa but the wife and I along with two other couples have booked somehting called the El Dorado Surprise! Basically, we're guaranteed rooms at the El Dorado Royale but if there are rooms available ar Seaside or Maroma we get the upgrade for free! Anyway, just thought I'd stop in and say "Hello". Been reading and reading and reading on this site trying to get the lay of the land before we get to Playa.

I have stayed at the Royale before. Beautiful place. I wasnt aware the seaside or Moroma would be considered an upgrade though.

Well...I guess I assumed that the smaller resorts would be considered an upgrade because they would naturally be more initmate. From what I gather, they are all pretty nice.

We loved Ixtapa, especially Zihua! Fun.

The El Dorados are very nice.

Enjoy.

We have stayed at the El Dorado Royale as well. Nice resort, good food Haven't been to Maroma or SS but have also been at the Azul Beach hotel which is a sister resort but not adults only. It was nice too

I'm sure we'll love the area. I'm a little bummed that the place we are staying is not within walking distance to la quinta. That was one thing we loved about Ixtapa/Zihua.

I'm afraid I don't remember Mary...but I do have a terrible memory for names!
