I've been a longtime fan of this place, I believe the owner/chef is a former cruise ship chef.

Don Mario's is a must for our family each time we visit Playa - normally a couple of times each trip! The arracherra is very good as well as the pasta dishes. We also really like like the staff - they are all very welcoming and accommodating. Too bad Ponchita decided she prefers home over her cage in the restaurant!

Do you get enough, or is the big platter severs that make the meals look small?

Yes, the portions are large. We are big eaters and it is always plenty for us.

Don Mario's has always been underrated imho . Not as glitzy and shiny as most places but good food and ran by good people .... thank goodness the parrot finally done a runner

Well we tried Don Mario's again this vacation.......to see if I was wrong on my last statements................I was not, imo

arracherra portions smaller, more expensive and not at all as tasty as Diez.

pasta came hard...not even eadible......and my gf loves her pasta....
the service was good with a cheerful waitress.
I checked menu prices and they are higher than some places we have eaten on 5th....why??

Any recent comments on Don Marios ? Or is El Diez still the go to place for a good steak ?

Had a great steak at El Diez two nights ago. First place that I went for dinner after a week in south Florida. I always get the steak named Basao (sp?).

Their pizza is good.

They are number four on my list. Honestly, I would have placed them at number three, but Rick liked Piola enough for me to push Piola up ahead one.

AV. 5 and calle 30. Prices aren't bad especially if you have the "locals" VIP Preferred Client 20% discount card

. That's 20% off of everything (alcohol included).
