which hotel for 5th anniversary?

My husband and I are planning (another) trip to PDC in May...last time we missed our flight!

I narrowed our hotel options to 6........ We will be in PDC for 4 nights and our hotel budget is $550 (too many trips in 2010 to spend more than that).

Playa Palms $542 (oceanview room)

Blue Pearl $464 (suite #3)

LaTortuga $468 (standard room)

Aventura Mexicana $285 (superior king room)

Fusion $280 (gardenview)

Barrio Latino $205 (king deluxe room)

I would love a hotel that has a romantic setting, rest/bar on premises. A beach-front isn't that important to us.

If you know of other hotels, please share the details.

For a romantic setting with a rest/bar on premises, I think La Tortuga would meet your needs best.

Thank you for the suggestions. Barrio Latino, Aventura Mexicana & LaTortuga are my favorites for different reasons. Good to know that there is a rest. close to BL.

Well I'll put in a plug for Aventura Mexicana. We stayed there this past Sept. in a Superior King room... it was large and very comfortable! The grounds are lovely at this hotel, with a nice pool to cool off in. There is a rest. at the hotel that has 1/2 price drinks during happy hour. The hotel is very clean and everyone there was very nice and helpful.

La Tortuga is another great place, we haven't stayed there yet... but you can see by your own prices that it is quite a bit more expensive.

I think Aventura is a very good value for the money!

Mercy, were you able to try out the restaurant at Aventura Mexicana for a meal? How did the food prices look? Would you say it's pretty casual?

Thanks!

I stayed there last year as well (pics in my trip report from last Feb of the room).

The restaurant is pretty casual, but the meals we had (full breakfasts usually) were pretty good. And a little bar area too.

No, we never ate there except for breakfast one morning. So can't really comment or on the prices, but I would assume the prices are average. But yes, casual.

love...love...love La Tortuga. i've stayed there about 10 times. the setting is absolutely gorgeous. the pool and grounds are well kept. you get a complimentary breakfast with your stay and it's more then just a continental breakfast...plus you get discounts on other meals there too. the staff makes you feel very welcome. great location. i could go on and on.

congrats on your anniversary. when in May are you going to be in Playa?

LOL @ go on and on.. We will be in Playa the third week of May...booking flights this weekend.

LaT appeals to me because of the location, adult atmosphere and rest/bar. It seems like the perfect hotel.

Have you ever stayed in one of their standard rooms? That is the only room that fits our budget. So, when I compare room to room I feel like I can get more elsewhere. For the same price we could have a suite @ Blue Pearl or save $183 & stay @ Aventura Mexican, or save $263 & stay @ Barrio Latino.

Decisions…Decisions….Decisions…..
