And totally off topic, UnoMas...During my obligatory stop at the Tequila Barrel, was introduce to a new Mezcal that was, simply, brilliant. You can't buy it retail yet, apparently they are distributing to bars first it was called Zignum. Wow, talk about smooth. I could have drank, and drank, and acted like an 18 year old... |

jwlowrider - I was wondering the same thing. However, I think the answer is yes. If you noticed, he mentioned in his first post that the parents would be willing to say that the kids were 18 - if the resort would take their word for it...
I think as long as the kids aren't driving and they're under adult supervision it's not a big deal. Lord knows we did that stuff when I was their age - and there were no adults in sight... in fact, there were 60 kids from my graduating class that did Cancun the week after we graduated... I can promise you we got into a lot more stuff than these kids will with the parents around! LOL |

Thank you Shaunna. Yes the parents are obviously ok with it if they are willing to say we are of age. Almost all the kids are of legal age in Mexico. This forum was started because i was wondering if the 17 year olds would be able to go into the resort club. We will go into town a few times becasue we are there for a week. Does anyone know if they offer a shuttle to bars or something in town?

Charlie, you sound like you are on top of things. We are just a bunch of fuddie-duddies who can only barely remember what it was like to be 18 (okay, me at least).
Have fun, and like I said, try not to give us old folks a hard time! |

At the Iberostar Paraiso they would not let anyone in the disco without an adult band, even though my kids tried to bribe the door checker guy (unbeknownst to us the parents). We were there last year for our vow renewal and requested they cut the bands off when we left the hotel for the ceremony (offsite) and they did and gave us new bands when we returned at no cost. Also unbeknownst to us the parents, my older son bribed the bellboys to get an adult band for my 16 year old, but they said it was close to $100 for it. We didn't realize it because the other side of the band is white (which is the under 18 color) and he would just flip it around when he was with us.

My experience has been that it varies by resort. At the Barcelo, they are all over the games during spring break. Even if an adult "loses" thier band, it is $250 because so many of them take them off and give them to the kids. at the disco, they actually check to make sure that the band isn't too loose, like you are sharing it... if they have questions, they make you bring back your passport. Not kidding, been there the last 2 years during spring break. so, like I said, each resort will vary and it will depend on what their past experiences have been like. This year, we are headed to Grand Riviera Princess with a small spring break group and are hoping for a quieter time than the Barcelo.... LOL....

Back from the Trip
The trip was awesome! everyone eventually got the blue wristband. when i first checked in just said i was 18 and the guy didnt second guess it. some of my other friens had their passports checked and were given kids wristbands. eventually everyone got adult wristbands by asking someones whos leavign for their, going to the counter with it the next day saying they were someone else and askin for a new one. it worked for eveyone who was 17.
