GPR 11-26-09 to 12-5-09
I am sorry it is now March and I am just now posting my trip report
However, we have had quite a bit going on since our return to Dallas starting the day we got home. My husband hurt his back on the plane ride home from PDC and ended up having spine surgery 1-13-10.Anyway, as usual we had an AMAZING time at GPR, we were treated like royalty. We got the room we requested as usual and it was beautiful. We were there to celebrate our 11 yr. Anniversary and everyone at GPR made the trip the best ever. From check in to check out we wanted for nothing, we had drinks coming before we even sat in our beach chairs It is great to be known around there, but kinda dangerous too We enjoyed eating out at some really great local places like El Juardo, La Tarraya, Las Brisas, Carboncitos and of course the wonderful restaurants at GPR - Marias and El Piscador. We enjoyed every moment. We went to Puerto Morelos with Felipe (3rd floor bartender at GPR) and his wife Luci, they are great friends and we always get together with them on Felipes day off. I want to mention some of the AWESOME staff at GPR: Felipe, Rene (chef), Luis (bar mgr), Miguel & Jose (bartenders), Teresa - Jose - Benito (beach waiters) and everyone else, they all rock! You will not be disappointed with GPR and if you are, well your loss So, here are some pictures to enjoy!![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() We can't wait to go back, hopefully in November again for our 12 yr. Anniversary! |

Jealous
[quote=angelhouston819;1536606]hola Dallas peeps. well, that sucks about your husband hurting his back on the plane. ugh!! did you get your tats in Playa? if so, where? i'm wanting to get one while there in May.
I know, it really sucks, especially since he has no insurance Yes, we got our tattoos in Playa, we go to Scream Ink by Pony, he is awesome! However, Pony no longer lives in Playa, he moved to California in late December. Gabriel and Beto are there and they both do great work too. Here is a link to their site : Index it shows their location and information, we have had 2 each done there and we love them. So jealous you are going in May, we always go in May for Memorial Day holiday and again in November for Thanksgiving/Anniversary. Due to his surgery we won't be able to make the May trip this year, but fingers crossed we will go in November. Have a great trip. |

PDC can't be beat
[quote=angelhouston819;1536628]oh, i know right where Scream Ink is. passed by it many many times. thanks for the recommendation on Gabriel and Beto. there's a chance i may be in Playa the week of Thanksgiving too. maybe our paths will cross. yep...no insurance sucks. i JUST went on to my new job's insurance program today!!
Yep, Scream Ink is easy to find, you won't be disappointed. Just go in and schedule an appointment as soon as you arrive and make it for your last day there. We are definetly planning on November again, I just can't go a whole year without Playa Keep me posted if you are going to be there then.Yippie for Insurance

Favorite room
Quote:
As for our favorite room we like any of them from 333 to 353 just beacause the views are the best. We have stayed in 237 on the second floor and have stayed in the Ocean Front walk out too, but for the best views I have to say 333 to 353 range. We stayed in 335 last time and it was great! Are you going soon? |

Oh no, I'm sosorry to hear about your husbands back injury
But, I am so thrilled to hear you had such a wonderful time at GPR!! We are leaving Saturday and am soooo excited!! Is it noisy with it being a kid friendly resort? We didn't realize that until after we booked. Shouldn't be a big deal. Also, did you have troubles getting your reservations once you got to the hotel? I've heard that people don't get the room they paid for sometimes???Anyway, so nice to know others that have been there and loved it! We are going with 4 other couples, lots of fun to be had, lol. |

No worries at gpr
Quote:
It isn't noisy, around the main pool is where most people gather during the day and they do the activites for kids and adults there, so that really is the extent of the noise. We prefer Adults only resorts with the exception of GPR it is just such a wonderful place that we don't mind and there really aren't alot of kids there so it's all good. As for the rooms, we always get the room we want, we have been so many times they know us so it isn't an issue, and it seems that most people I read about having issues getting the rooms they want are ones who do the online check in and upgrade on there. Just look at your paperwork you have for the reservation and it says what type of room you paid for and that is exactly what the hotel gets as well, just contact the hoter prior to arrival to verify to give you a piece of mind. You will have a great time, I am soooooooooooooo jealous that you are going so soon, I guess for now I will have to live vicariously through others

Thats what happened to Justin's back as well. I'm glad to hear he's doing well! Justin has told me that it's the most painful thing he's experienced (you know, being the evel-knievel he is, that says something!) I guess our silver lining was that he did it at work, so workmen's comp covered it. Otherwise, we would have been more than $80,000 in the hole after everything was said and done. He did physical therapy for awhile and is now doing well. His doctor recommended regular workouts in order to keep his muscles loose, or strong...or something? It still bothers him occassionally, especially when first waking up. He says it's most annoying when sitting or laying for long periods. He's still building houses though, so he's back to normal. He needs to be super careful with lifting as I'm sure you know! Good thing these tough guys have such great women to take care of them

You know it!

![]() That's what I hear that you are never 100% normal again, but at least they can function pretty normal after surgery, much better than before, my hubby could hardly walk or stand and had to sleep in a recliner until a while after his surgery. Yes being careful is key! I follow after him doing anything that I think he shouldn't do, I probably annoy him, but to bad we can't risk a re-injury. ![]() Well, all I can do for now is watch the webcams on this site and day dream of Playa
