CFE changing meters
Hi. I heard (and saw on 24th) that CFE is changing meters to digital meters.
Anyone know the details of the project? Like how long it will take? Is it all of Playa or just testing a few areas? And what will happen to all those unemployed CFE meter readers if they are no longer needed! Thanks- M |

I don't believe by switching the meters to digital eliminates the need to read the meter, so jobs should remain. Unless you are saying by going digital, they are also linked to the CFE so the readings go directly to the CFE. I know in the US, I have a digital meter, but still have a person come out to read it.

Hi. I was told that the digital meters link right into the CFE office so they can be read/fixed/reset right there ...or maybe I misunderstood what I read...
" it integrates state-of-the-art metering features with the ability to share real-time and historical information simultaneously with both their billing and power quality engineering departments" Does not impact my life in anyway... Just curious |

Well, it could impact bills. If the meters have the ability to read what time of day electricity is being used by a customer and they start charging higher rates at peak times. I have heard of this in Cancun, but cannot confirm.

So I revert back to my original question if anyone knows the details of the change. Like I said I've seen the new digital meters on 24th b/n 5 & 10. So if anyone learns anything...as to when the change is coming...please let me know. Thanks |

. This will give CFE the ability to shut off customers electricity from their main headquarters for non-payment of bills.
