Are we fit enough for adventure tours???

All the adventure tours look like so much fun, but we're in our 50's, even though we think we're in our 30's. We climbed Chichen Itza in 2004, but I had a hard time sitting down for a couple days, but I survived. I've been trying to workout, but honestly, I'm not doing that great at it. My knees started to hurt after doing all the jumps in the Wii AE Sports Fit...not sure a 51 year old is supposed to do squat jumps! When animation girl told me I could do better I knew why I had the wrist strap on. But I've always wanted to do a zipline and repelling into a cenote sounds really cool...but drowning, not so much. And I really don't want to have to be hoisted out of the cenote because I can't get back out. The tours that you have to ride a bike are totally out...that really scares me!
So, can anyone suggest a tour that might fit a couple 50 somethings, that are adventurous, but might not be able to do all the things they could in their 30's, but not in too bad of shape, oh and a couple beers at the end/middle would be fantastic.
Thanks!

Damn...you're giving us 50 somethings a bad name!
Of course you can do it
Xplor...ATV Adventure...I can't think of any tour that an early 50 year old can't do

They always have these young fit people in the pictures! It makes me nervous. I like to think I can do anything, but sometimes my body doesn't agree.

Oh stop that now, you'll be fine! If not, come on over and I'll set you up with a few sessions with my trainer - she'll make a zipline look like a walk in the park!

Tulum and Beyond - see the "Trip Planning" tab on the site......ruins, cenote, beach, cenote, lots of beers when you want them. We went with 4 55'ishes of us and we had a great time.
Mind you, it's not a physically challenging day. Just tons of fun.

I second the "Tulum and Beyond" tour...It was our favorite part of our trip (5 yrs ago). A great variety throughout the day, but nothing that was really physically challenging...and, yep, beers in the middle!

I should have noted that we've already been to Tulum, so we're really looking for one of the other tours. Thanks for the suggestion though!

I wish I could share your trainer...too bad there's so many states between us! The other day I touched my flexed arm and felt something odd...it was a muscle! I've been working out, it's just my feet, knees and back are sometimes bothersome! I'll keep at it...I really want to zipline! They say 50 is the new 30 after all. I guess there's always plenty of beverages to help ease the soreness if we over do it...I just don't want to get in over my head. It seems like I read something about being hoisted out of a cenote...that doesn't sound cool.

kantunchi.com

Go to Kantun Chi eco park- has the most beautiful underground cenotes. One of the most beautiful sites I had ever seen! Super easy, light swimming, must wear life jackets, simple.

After you're done head across the street to what most say is one of the most beautiful beach in the Riveria Maya- Xpu Ha! Simple...just soak in the sun! Good restaurant is on site!

Why not check out Hidden Worlds? I say go for it if you want to do it. I would love to Zip-line and go down in a cenote by using ropes...they can figure out how to get me back up.

My 46 year old husband just did a zipline canopy tour a couple weeks ago in PV....he was hanging upside down for a couple of them, even...and he just had a hip replacement over xmas! So I am sure you will be fine. It is not very taxing at all, you just hang there!

edit: the walking/climbing was fairly taxing....but that was in the mountains. At Xplor you should not have a problem at all.

I just checked this place out and it looks pretty cool. I did a search and there hasn't been any posts on it for a long time. Thanks for the suggestion.

The zip line should be okay for you! When I went in Puerto Vallarta the hardest part was uphill walking but I did fine and I am not in shape. If you do it wear cycling gloves, it makes it easier to hold on with the whole sweaty palms issue. When I went, there were several people in their 50s with our group and they loved it. Have fun!

Thanks, I read that the cycling zip line gives the legs a good work out too!
