Maybe its because i am a "local" but i still fail to see the relevance of threads like this... i mean i am from the UK , supposedly a safe place compared to the US and Canada (no offence meant) but a country where gangs of teens can roam around mugging grown men, where children are regularly abducted, molested and murdered, where young girls are drugged and raped, where innocent drivers can be murdered just because the annoyed another driver, and yes a country where the residents have lived under the threat of terrorism for (approx) 50 years..... and here i am reading endless posts about people worried to come to Playa (probably one of the safest places on the planet ) because a bunch of drug dealers are bumping each other off...... i mean you play with fire you are gonna get burnt !!!
The area has been thru enough crap in the last few years with the big hurricains, pig flu (yeah what pig flu..) and the world economy.... the last thing Q,Roo needs is the mindless whining of a bunch of naysayers asking silly questions about how many heads were cut off two years ago.... sorry just needed to vent a little..... Playa del Carmen, is SAFE..... |

Seriously? You guys are gonna come down on someone for asking if there were more detailed information on where the incident took place?
Wow. If someone had a link to an article about an incident taking place "near Philadelphia" and asked "where" - that could be north of Philadelphia, south of Philadelphia, east of Philadelphia, west of Philadelphia, could be Pennsylvania, could be Delaware. Really. I live the same distance from Philadelphia as PDC to Cancun and I would not automatically assume "near Philadelphia" is an accurate location. To the person who asked the question, I think the answer put a little more nicely is nobody here knows anything more then what the article states - it happened SOMEWHERE "near Cancun". |

"Alor said three of the sinkholes are in an area covered with scrub vegetation near a residential area and the fourth on the outskirts of Cancun along a highway leading to Merida. None of the bodies have been identified."
I think it was off highway 180 where the bodies were found....At one time there was a thread that had the exact town but that thread was removed.....Or maybe just merged with another thread.....

The four clandestine cemeteries were found on the outskirts of Cancun, three of them close together in an area known as Alamos II. Three other corpses were located in a cenote near the Tierra Maya residential neighborhood along a highway leading to Merida, capital of the neighboring state of Yucatan. I dont think so at all Mikey, after all this is supposed to be a forum to promote Playa del Carmen, its Monuments, and business.s,its beaches and its beauty, i really dont think there is any need to see thread after thread of this nature. Yes there are murders here, there are murders everywhere but as far as i am aware they are contained within the drug and crime circles, they bear no threat to visitors , so why promote the scaremongering . I personaly feel if people feel the need to write and read about this kind of stuff there should be a completely seperate forum, i would rather not see it on P.I. at all Hopefully i am entitled to an opinion |
