I went to high school in inner-city Detroit from 68-72. I ran track and cross county so when I got chased they could never catch me! LOL!

I really want to get to Merida one day in the not too distant future. Hope your electric is back on if it went out.

None of that every happened to me. It also has not happened in Merida, Yucatan, Mexico
Don't think you have much to fear in Lake Oswego.

Did not have, but we were not in the rich part. We were in the buffer between I-5 and the rich people

Did you miss WaterRat's question to you in his post #834
Here it is : "Please put things in perspective for us. When were you last in Playa? For how long?"
When you answer that, I will answer your question.

By the way, Baltimore has 27 homicides [murders] in the last 30 days

Maybe you should spend more time rooting for the Orioles being that they are in next to last place

Just don't come to Playa and/or Mexico. Go to Boca. You will feel safe. That is, if you don't drive
Nearest big city to me is San Jose CA, just under one million inhabitants, 18 homicides by the middle of August. San Jose is considered a safe city relative to most others of the same size.

But we do have crazy Asian drivers to look out for.

How many murders in Playa this year so far?

Well a quick search says in Quintana Roo (pop ?)there has been 12 in the month of Nov of 2016 , compared to 27 in the month of Nov in 2015.
Judging from what I read in the local news there probably has been more than 12 in Playa alone over the last 9 months but every night seems there are attacks on several that seem they are intended to die but don't. Plus most murderers are never caught.

You are more likely to win the lottery than see a crime solved in Mexico/
