Quiet Beach South of PDC

Hi All
We are working with our wedding coordinator to find a beach to hold the ceremony on. She has suggested Al Cielo or La Playa beach club. Our wedding will be on a Tuesday at 3 pm so were hoping to find a beach that wasn't in front of a hotel or beach club. Does anyone have any suggestions for a quiet beach near the Grand Palladium resort?? Thanks!! Carla

Doesn't the Palladium have a wedding gazebo on the beach, like most of the other mega resorts???

Are you looking for a 'crowd free' public beach? (all beaches are public, so that was a dumb point I just made).

There are lots of weddings held on Akumal Beach and there's an awesome wedding planner at Cueva del Pescador...

A lot of people have their weddings on Akumal beach, basically within range of the webcam, but "if it were me...I'd move down a little further south of that point.)

And be out of range of the webcam and the popular area where people gather.

If you want REALLY PRIVATE, there's Chemuyil Beach, but I don't know if you can get in from the highway - the road may be blocked off now. IT'S STUNNING in there but also private property.

Yes and it is beautiful but right next the the bar along with being surrounded by lounge chairs.

Not crowd free but building and beach chair free is what we are looking for. Something that is more natural.

This is actually the beach we were originally thinking about. How far away from the hotels/beach club are these areas? Are there usually lots of people there during the week?

To the right and left of La Playa is open beach...i dunno several hundred yards.
And La Playa is not a big beach club - rather quaint, actually.

Depending on the season, the beaches can be nearly deserted during the week.

I just did a quick google search and WOW. That is all I can say. This is EXACTLY what we were thinking of. I am 100% in LOVE! It sounds like the road to it is now private property owned by a development firm but the beach is public?

Isn't that Xcacel Beach? We didn't make it there last year but we did the year before, and just paid a few pesos to enter. It was a beautiful beach- we were the only ones there (this was early December). There is a path to a nice little cenote, too.

They are close to each other but not the same. Xcacel is about a mile south from what I can see on Google maps. But you are right it is beautiful too! These two beaches are the ones I keep coming back to in pictures.

Hola from Michigan too!

We married on Cozumel Island (just a ferry ride away from Playa) in front of a small botique ocean front hotel called Playa Azul.

Looks like you have a hotel and wedding planner picked out, but if you have more questions, feel free to PM me or ask the wedding planner I went thru -
cozumelweddingplanner.com

You picked a PERFECT time to get married : low season- therefore lower prices and crowds, its past hurricane season and the weather is very mild- less chance of being HOT on ur big day! (We married on Dec 4th, 2006) Hint- Do not wear your hair down- My hair blew all over the place, mostly in my face during the ceremony! Skip the veil too, that was blowing in my face too, my maid of honor had to hold it down!

No, it's Chemuyil Beach, it's immediately south of the Bahia property. I've walked to it a couple of times and it IS beautiful.

I dug out some of my pics of the walk there. I know they do a 'Robinson Caruso" cruise by catamaran from Akumal there for a lunch. I'd urge you to contact Cueva del Pescador and see what the wedding planner there can tell you. You might be able to get a permit or something and have the road opened up for your party. They also have a Shaman who can do a mayan ceremony.

It's around the corner- to the right...

Getting there...

Here it is...so beautiful! HOT HOT WALK over the iron shore though

Yep...I'd say contact Cueva...perfect spot!
