Dairy products often taste different in different countries. Tasting new food, fruit, produce etc is one of the perks of traveling. Some things taste better than at home, some things don't.

For families with kids, don't bother bringing juice boxes. Chedraui has a nice inexpensive selection.

I had heard of the news that since the "MAD COW" scare here in the US that Mexico had baned the inport of US beef. Anyone know anything about this?

I'd also be interested in knowing a good source for buying Fresh Shrimp in Playa. Is there a fish market close to downtown? The last couple of years we have been going to Mazatlan and there has been a fellow there that delivers fresh shrimp and fish to the condo building daily. Last year we were paying $160 pesos per kilo delivered for cleaned, and devained, jumbos. We always bring some Coctail Sauce from the States, and enjoy lunches of Shrimp Coctail, and fresh fruit, and of course a cocktail or two.

There's a fish store or la pescaderia named Oceano located on 34th and 35th Ave. You'll find more info about it in the Changarros y más section of the forum (click here).
