Thank you to all vets and men/women currently involved in armed struggle..peacekeeping or otherwise.

I remember my father-in-law, four years passed now. He fought as a Merchant Marine in WWII and a Paratrooper in Korea. He had his ship sunk from underneath him twice, saw many friends lose their lives, and was decorated. He was just as honorable a person as he was a soldier..never lied, cheated, or stole a time in his life. He ranked honour and honesty as THE most important in human qualities, and I admired him very much. He became a father to me as well, and was the only older-adult I ever heard tell me, "I'm proud of you." He was/is very dear to my heart, and we miss him terribly.

I have posted this photo before, but I'll post it again. After he passed away I took the tarnished and dirty medals that he had kept in the back of a drawer (he didn't want to display them as they brought bad memories for him) and had had them re-dipped in silver, re-ribboned, and framed with his service photo and honorable discharge papers as a surprise for John.
