If you need a good, moderately priced hotel in Cancún, I can recommend El Rey del Caribe. It is a lovely, older hotel close to the bus station on the corner of Av Uxmal with Av Nader. It has A/C, TV, kitchenettes (fridge, sink, 2-burner gas stove, dishes for 2, pan and pot), pool, hot tub, spa services, and parking. There are no washcloths provided, but there are dispensers in the shower for shampoo, conditioner, and bath soap. Be sure to bring your own bottled water.

Another less expensive one we have found is Hotel Xbalamqué on Ave Xachilán and Calle Jazmines. It has everything El Rey has except the kitchenettes and hot tub. Reserve at
www.travel-center.com, and you’ll get it for half the price posted at the front desk.
