Good Family Friendly Resort

I have a friend who would like to go to Mexico for the first time next April. She has two boys who will be 16 and 20 at that time. We usually only travel to adults only resorts so I have no clue what is a good place for this age group.

They would like to be budget friendly but a decent place. She was thinking of Cancun but I have tried to steer her closer to Playa where the resorts are not all together (hence too tempting for her boys to wander off and get in trouble - easier to keep an eye on them).

Can anyone recommend a few places that she can start to research?

Thanks

Grand Palladium. They have tons of pools, 24 hour beach bar food and a night club for under 21 year olds. Great beach, great food. A really nice sports bar.

here's a web site of a fan club for the Palladium. They sell nothing, just a great group of people who are going, have gone and returning to Grand Palladium. www.palladiumaddict.net

There really are many nice family friendly properties, it just depends on what interests them most. Great beach, larger property, smaller property, close to town, location not important, upscale, budget resort (budget resort doesn't always equal "decent"), are the kids active or do they just want to lounge around?

So lot's of different possibilities but you do need to know something about the client before you can start giving out suggestions.

Some general suggestions though (in addition to what's above):

Iberostar Tucan/Quetzal
Iberostar Paraiso Beach/del Mar
Iberostar Paraiso Lindo
Barcelo Maya - Beach/Caribe, Tropical/Colonial
Dreams Riviera Cancun
Sandos Playacar
Riu Yucatan
NOW Riviera Cancun (they have special rates right now)
Bahia Principe Akumal/Tulum/Coba

Somewhere to start anyway!

Iberostar Tucan is family friendly. I've seen families (all ages) there and they have a nice beach.

I love the Lindo - my sixteen year old always has a great time...lots of day/night activities.

My fiancee are very happy with the Sandos Playacar. Lots of family of all ages. The Sandos does offer a Teen Disco on some nights until 11PM when it becomes Adults only Disco. The resort is big enough they probably wouldn't wonder off into other resorts.
