I think within the last month. And probably because there was either not enough business or the rent was to high...or both. The place has been gutted and being remodeled .
I am sure there will be another restaurant coming.
I am having trouble keeping up with all of these closing and subsequent opens of restaurants.
My new fav is Chicago Beef at AV. 10 and calle 24. No steaks buy Vienna Beef products and Vienna dill pickle spears all imported from the U.S. The couple is from Chicago and as soon as their pizza oven arrives = genuine Chicago deep dish pizza. I have already eaten there 3x in the last 2 days.

Also, nearby, Dello Sports Bar (Italian restaurant/bar/pizza) at AV. 5 and calle 32 (NW corner), The Butcher Shop, also at AV. 5 and calle 32 (SW corner) AND Sr. Mostaza on AV. 5 between calle 30 & 32...........all have closed.

I have never heard of any of those restaurants before, they must have opened after we left last year and closed before we get here this year. How about Chiltepin? Still there and still consistent? Just 4 more weeks until we arrive, barring "complications. You will have to be our tour guide to all these new places.

Chiltepin is still there and still very good. In fact I ate there 5 days ago. My new favorites, other than Chiltepin, are Trattoria del Centro and Chicago Beef
And yes, Barb, I will be your tour guy (Jack's also). And since your our a gourmet cook, I always trust your opinions.

We ate at Trattoria del Centrol last month after someone on the forum had mentioned they had moved/reopened (maybe it was Al). We had the lunch specials and it was a huge helping and fantastic! And the Tiramisu for dessert was awesome also.

I was and have been writing about Trattoria del Centro. I have been talking up the place as they serve really good food at great prices.

I should mention that their former location (calle 26 between 10 and 20 but just a couple of spaces off of 10th on 26th) will, within a few weeks, open as a Spanish restaurant.

I love Trattoria del Centro and when they were in the old place they had a really inexpensive breakfast that was really good and cooked to order. This year we have a much better kitchen, so maybe we will be able to do a couple of dinner parties. We really need this vacation.

The chef that I was familiar with from the old location of Trattoria del Centro now along with a few of the other workers from there have opened their own place. It is the familiar Italian menu, a bit lower price, and they do have, I believe, a liquor license. The location is Avenida 10 on the corner with I think 40 or 42.

Location, Location, Location NO
Little if any walk by traffic there.
I know of at least 4 restaurants that have opened in that location in the past several years and I don't think that any have lasted more than 6 months.
I wish them well.

The location of (formerly) G5G will just be an expansion of the store Caravan.. The Caravan on Calle Corazon recently closed so I guess they decided to expand the location at AV. 5 and calle 32.
