CheapCarribean.com Question

Has anyone ever used this site before? I am looking to book our honeymoon in Playa and this site is pretty cheap compared to Expedia and other sites. The other question I have is can you upgrade room types thru the hotel after booking on Cheap Caribbean or Expedia? For instance, on CheapCarribean they only have Junior Suites and Junior Suite Ocean View available at the Royal PDC. I was hoping to book a Oceanfront suite. Anyone know if its possible to call the hotel after dealing with CheapCarribean and upgrade the room type? Thanks again for everyone's help.

They may only have those room types available because the others could be sold out? You can try to upgrade when doing the online check in, or at check in but if the room you want is sold out, obviously you won't be able to.

Just realized when you're traveling. It's kind of early to be looking for March 2011 prices, I looked and my suppliers don't have their contracts done with the Real Resorts yet, and Bestday also doesn't have prices up past Dec. That could be why you're running into problems as well - not all hotels (and possibly room categories) are up for sale yet.

I had gone on CheapCarribean to see what the rates were in December just to get an approximate gauge on the cost and they only had those two room types available. On CheapCarribean they do not have anything available for March, as you said Shammy.

On another note, is this a reputable site? Comparing prices even for December and its much cheaper than anywhere else.

We used Cheapcaribbean.com for our February 2009 trip. They are one of those big impersonal sites... tho they do have a leg up on the Expedia's and Orbitz's of the world... when you call Cheap Caribbean customer service you get a person in the United States (meaning person who you can understand and who understands you). I had to deal w/ their customer service twice (once to switch resorts and once because our flights kept getting changed and it was driving me crazy) and both times they were great. In comparison... I recently had to call Orbitz customer service and I wanted to pull my hair out.

I don't know if CheapCarribean and CheapTickets are the same company, but we went to Playa last month on CheapTickets and could not have been happier with the service or the price. I was really apprehensive because of the problems CheapTickets had in the past, but there were absolutely no issues.

cheapcaribbean.com is an awesome site. I have now booked 2 vacations with them one to the Barcelo Maya tropical at $1050pp for 10 nights and one for the Riu Palace riviera maya for $1600 for 2 weeks... both vacations included airfare from seattle at that price.

Very reputable and usually the best prices I can find. I have also called customer service just to ask a few questions and you get directly to a live person who can help you with your needs.

They are better than expedia and travelocity and i found if you CALL them after checking out their website you might have more accesss to ordering other room types.

I find the biggest thing is to do your research and email the hotel directly after you book about 10 days before you get there requesting a room type (for example... king bed top floor non smoking). And usually they will honor your request if the resort is not full.

Happy hunting!
