Professor, isn't there a Frank Sinatra song sort of like that?

I will have to disagree with your second point as there are many many Mayan people and they all care about Mayan food

Go there and eat.
You'll find it is not just Mayan cuisine.
Not even close.

I plan to, if it's still open next time I'm down there. Missed it last time.

The three times I ate there I liked it twice.

They are still open

Large menu with sauces from around Mexico and tasty steaks that are cooked to your order. The Mayan sampler plate is a great preview of their flavors. The Mexican wines are a little overpriced. Overall, the prices are very reasonable. Old school, friendly service and the valet parking is helpful.

Their website is one of the best I have seen.

We stopped in last night. Good food and good service. They had traditional Myan dishes along with what we have gotten an numerous reastaurants--grouper in butter garlic sauce--. But with their Grouper, you get the whole fish--two filets along with the head and the tail. And they also have steak and lobster.

My wife had a Mayan dish--pork in a mole sauce and I had the whole grouper in the butter garlic sauce. both were excellent. The prices were reasonable. $750 pesos without the gratuity--including an appitizer of a tamale, chile rellano and four small tacos.

An excellent atmosphere--quiet and away from the hectic atmosphere of 5th Ave.

Four of us ate there in May..seafood was excellent and very reasonable.
Service very good. Plan on going there again in January. Watch out for the "stuffed" parrot out front....

Great food and service

I have eaten here three times and had a wonderful experience each time. The food was delicious and the service attentive but not overbearing. I also like the atmosphere. I'll be back to Playa on Nov. 15-27th and plan on stopping by for another great meal.

My wife and I were looking forward to eating here again, but it looks like it's closed for good.
