Fast question about the Royal

Hi. My husband has been emailing the Royal and they have assigned our room for us and this is the location they have booked for us.
"northern building thus they do not face the pool but this is the quiet area of the hotel, I have assigned a suite on the third floor with a king size bed and a hammock. "

Can anyone tell me about this location? We are so excited and think it has been great that my husband has been able to have one on one with one of the staff members before we arrive.

Does this location have a nice view of the ocean?

2 days and a few hours!! ( leaving Tuesday) getting excited!

I have to say everyones been great so far!

Did you book a Royal ocean view jr. suite? If so, then you'll have some kind of ocean view. If not, if it's just a Royal jr. suite, then this will probably be a room toward the back of the Uxmal building and probably won't have a view of the ocean. If it does, it might just be a sliver, seen from a distance, but at least it's 3rd floor so the best possible option to have any kind of view.

Did you ask the actual room number?

It really just depends on where exactly your room is located. I've had an ocean view room and it was all the way back by the lobby (I LOVED this room BTW) so while I could see the ocean (during the day), I sure couldn't hear it. You really need to book an oceanfront room to be able to see and hear the ocean at night. Once it's dark, there's just not much you can see past the gardens and beach area unless you're really close. There are a lot of rooms, some closer to the beach, some farther away so without knowing a room number, I can't tell you how close you'd be.

Ok the room number is 827. It looks very far from everything.

UXMAL is the building name I guess?

HOW big is the royal? I mean is it going to take us forever to walk to the front of the hotel with being so far back?

It will be a 5 minute walk to the front lobby, 2 minutes to the pool...This is based on my snail pace of a walk..

there are a lot of days, and nights, that you cannot hear the ocean even when standing with your feet in the water
it is pretty calm a lot of the time

If I understand your question...Are you talking about staying in your room and venturing out occasionally ?...There is Pelicano's restaurant and bar, which is a few step's away, and before that , there is the swing bar and swim up bar...
The other dining and bar is in the lobby area...
I don't mean this a negative manner, but unless you have disabilites, you should be good to go..

Wink The Royal

We stayed at The Royal in Cancun last year and fell in love with Real Resorts...we even bought ownership and haven't regretted it a bit. You will LOVE your stay there, I am certain! We're headed to the Playa location on June 2 and can hardly wait! Please post what you find is especially great in the area if you get the chance.

The food there is EXCELLENT...be sure to try to get a reservation at Chef's Plate at least once. We loved Spice (buffet with cook stations) and ate there a ton. Maria Marie's was our favorite evening restaurant but all are excellent.

Be sure to request top shelf for your drinks or order by brand. Also, please remember that although gratuities are included, it's really good to still give something extra for the wonderful service you will receive.

Have a GREAT time!!

As an FYI...you can only dine at the Chef's Plate if you book an oceanfront jr. suite room category or higher now. Ocean view rooms can no longer eat at the Chef's Plate.

And I agree with litenlarry, this resort is not very big, and getting from one place to another is a short walk - from anywhere.

Thanks for info

Well, darn! We tried getting Ocean front and it wasn't available. We'll have to see if we can "pull some strings" since we're owners there. Thanks for the info!

I have already spoke to the resort about this. Back in Jan when we booked it said we could eat at the Chef's plate. They are going to book us a dinner for our annv there since at the time I booked our room allowed us to eat there.

Thank you for all replies. I admitt I am pretty worried about this vacation. It is just so hard when your leaving 6 behind 4 you recently adopted. we NEED this vacation badly.

Our concern about the room location was about having to walk across the whole resort each time we needed a drink. I've never stayed in a resort where the buildings are not connected LOL Usually we got in a elevator and just went and ate and got drinks.

I am sorrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrry if I seem so stressed!!! I KNOW this is going to be great . I just have to get over my guilt or leaving my angels behind and my "panic!" Our angels are staying in our home with my brother and sis in law watching them so I know they will be well taken care of!! I now need to allow myself to relax and enjoy a much needed break!

Royal & drinks

Well, getting a drink is never a problem. The rooms have a built-in liquor cabinet with 4 choices (we swapped out tequila for gin...just ask for what you want) and it is checked and refilled as necessary every day. Also, the 24 hour VIP lounge has just about anything you can think of to drink (fix it yourself!) along with a nice assortment of snacks. You'll be just fine! Enjoy!
