didn't mean to sound like a finger wagger

That is not a big deal at all, what you did, of course. I think many people just don't think to turn it off, is all. I know we have forgotten more than once!

Stratus- the best way to get pesos for we Canucks is to simply take your ATM card(s) and get pesos from the ATM. There are several ATMs in Playa, at least one at the CUN airport (in a little alcove to your left soon after you go through Customs with your bags and exit into the terminal. Also your hotel may even have one in the lobby, too.

Or, you can call and order some pesos from your bank, it takes a few days usually.

Also you can take Canadian cash (bills only, no loonies or toonies) and exchange it at your hotel desk (but the rate will be poor) or in Playa at small money exchange places called cambios.

Canucks are funny. "Finger wagger."

Riss is a seasoned traveler. Learn from her wisdom.

And what the hell is a toonie? I learned about loonies to get a cart at the market. (That's a really great idea by the way, Canada!) Think of the savings in labor alone!

Aside from that, thanx for the advice on the dollars issue, I just spent an hour reading up on it and the bank machines seem the best way to go, so bank machines it is....
And yes a twoonie = an XL timmies with tip twice a day for me. (1.79 here in Cowtown)

DEFINATELY Beer!
Timmies my good sir is the lifeblood of a Canucks morning, best coffee around (as long as you're not one of those Starbucks types I guess) A Toonie or Twoonie is a coin worth 2 bucks which covers an XL Timmies coffee with tip just nicely. See? easy peasy!

Not a Starbucks fan. I know of Hortons coffee. Is that right? Hortons?

The Loon we figured out at the market we stopped at for supplies. "All the carts were chained together!? What the?... A lady said "You put a Loony in it."

"What is that?" She laughed. "A coin." I reached into my pocket and pulled out a handful. "This one." "OHHH! It's got a picture of a LOON on it! Clever!"

That's all I learned. I may have over paid for everything I bought for an entire week. I would just hand them money and wait for change.

Starbucks types.....pffffft, no way. I am far too cheap....although, sadly, you will NOT find any Tim's in Playa, but there are 3 or 4 Starbucks.

You likely will not like the coffee at your AI very much....just warning you!

awesome, that is what we do too, take along and make our own coffee in the room.
Cream is also very hard to find, sometimes...it depends on the hotel though.

Have a wonderful trip! Are you doing any day trips anywhere?
