Iberostar Tucan vs. Sandos??

First off, i love this forum.

My wife and i are planning a trip for us and a couple friend of ours for this fall. Octoberish. We stayed at the Royal two years ago for our honeymoon. We loved it and love Playa. This will be our second trip to Playa. It will be the first trip anywere for our friends. For budget purposes on their part, we cant do the Royal again. Plus i wanted to try another resort. I have narrowed it down to these two. IB or Sandos.

I found that we could stay an extra day for about the same price if we chose the Sandos. But ive heard better things about Iberostar. Is the IB that much better? Is it worth the extra day? I want my friends to have an amazing time much like we did our first trip.

Feedback please.....and thank you.

I have never been to Sandos, but have been to IB Tucan and we loved it! We have booked our second trip to IB Tucan for Oct....for our 1 year anniversary with some friends also. I don't think you'd be disappointed if you choose IB.

Went to Tucan last year

and we are going to Sandos Caracol next week. We had a really good time at the Tucan. Drinks were good, beach service great. I tipped the girl once and didn't have to get out of my chair for hours. I also liked how they had a bar and an ice cream stand at the entrance to the beach. Organized sports were pretty good too. Entertainment team gets people having fun, as long as you are willing to participate. My wife put on the sumo suit and did a wrestling match on the beach! Really funny.

Shows were actually better than usual. Make sure to see the Ms. Iberostar contest.

I'll post when I return from Sandos.

Cool. Thanks, and please let me know about Sandos when you get back. If it were up to me i think id choose IB for sure, but our friends kinda like the idea of staying an extra day. Hard to argue with that. If you think the Sandos is close to par with IB , we'll likely do that. Otherwise, IB all the way.
Thanks again.

Which Sandos? Sandos Caracol or Sandos Playacar?

I don't think Caracol is on the same level as the IB* Tucan, if that's the one you mean. Playacar would be a bit closer of a comparative match however.

Sandos Playacar. Isn't that the one right next to Iberostar?

This will be the first trip to Mexico for our friends. I have been all over Mexico. I just want their first trip to be as amazing as possible for the budget we are under. Thanks to the great people of this forum, i think it will be an amazing experience for all of us.

P.S. Shammy, i hear your a travel agent....If you want to try to get us a deal on either of the resorts mentioned, shoot me a message.
Quick info: flying out of Tulsa, Oklahoma. Two rooms/ 4 people. Tentative dates are 9-26 or 9-27 thru 10-1

thanks,

I have stayed at Sandos Playacar a couple of times but would love to go to IB Tucan. We have friends that have stayed there before and they loved it. I would stay where you could stay the longest but I think the Tucan will be a bit nicer overall than Sandos.

I also have had great experiences at IB Tucan. I have no experience with Sandos, but if you can stay for an extra day at IB Tucan, and knowing how nice it is, I would definitely go that route.

We stayed at Sandos twice. loved it both times, best end of the beach. Stayed first time in the older section, second time in the Riviera section great rooms Have nothing but good things to say about Sandos, the food was good great selection of a la cartes. Staying at Sandos Playacar you can't go wrong in my opinion.

i agree with Sandos Playacar just got back in May and had a great time. We did have our grand daughter with us lots of kids and kids activities. You did not mention that you were taking any kids!!! Not sure of the Iberostar Tucan with children activities? You may want to consider this before bookin Sandos.

I don't have kids, but I know they have activities for kids at IB. I forget what the kids club is called. I'm sure others will be able to give you info on that though. I've always seen lots of families there and children, everyone seems to have a great time.

I know the activities group at the IB Quetzal/Tucan is called the "Star Friends", and I do recall they always seemed to have a bunch of kids trailing around with them going here and there and doing stuff. We didn't have any kids with us the three times we stayed there, but it definitely struck me as a very family-friendly resort. The little wading pool for the babies/toddlers was adorable. Built in a more shady area. Those little ones splashing around were so darn cute to see!!
