Winni”pig” Peep Meet - Mark VIII

Time to muster up the Mexican/Manitoba Mafia once more, to do the several things we do best....meet, greet, and eat. So, we figure on getting together to strap on the old lunchtime feedbag again. After spreading our business around among several of Winnipeg’s finer dining establishments, this time we’ve decided we’d take our valued custom to a spot that has recently become one of our favourite eateries - Dacquisto’s Cucina Tradizionale (Dacquisto’s Traditional Kitchen) Sound Italian? Ya’ think? Oh yeah, Italian cuisine. Of course, there are other things on their menu, which I’ll attach here, but they specialize in Italian dishes. We’ve eaten there a couple of times, and YWG Don&Deb are regulars, and their pasta preparations get extremely high marks from all of us. As you may recall from previous reports, my favourite meal in the world is Spaghetti Carbonara. Well Dacquisto’s Carbonara is among the top few I’ve ever tasted, and I’ve sampled more of that stuff than you can imagine. Everything we, or Don & Deb, have had there has been excellent. What: Our latest Winni”pig” Peep Meet.

When: Saturday, August 28th, 2010, 11:30 AM

Where: Dacquisto’s Cucina Tradizionale, 1715 Kenaston Blvd., Winnipeg
(That’s in the big McGillivray/Kenaston shopping zone. It’s on the South side of McGillivray, across from the Canadian Tire.

So far, several of the usual group of suspects plan on being there to “mangi” (That’s Italian for "eat".) As of this moment, we expect to see:

Bumper & Mrs. B - Bob & Jackie
YWG Don&Deb - Don & Deb
The Suncos - Eva & Victor
Zelda & Mr. Z - Lori & Bram
The JMacs - Jackie & Glenn (Maybe Conner too, if he can't do better than eating with old folks)

There are still some “regulars” we haven’t heard from yet, so those numbers may well swell a bit yet. In any case, there’s plenty of space, so anybody who is interested is most welcome to join us. Drop us a note here, or in a PM, and we can add you to the guest list.

At the moment, I think we're good for that weekend, our weekends have pretty much toasted the whole summer but so far, I think we'll be good to go, not too sure who all will be there from our clan but will be able to let ya know closer to then.

Glad to hear from you, Jackie. We won't "pencil you in", until you get a better notion of which way the wind blows. Summer weekends are always tough. We get so damned few of them.

Anybody else out there? Marg? Bryzee? Btodd? Lady Di?

Sorry we won't be seeing you at the get together, but definitely put Dacquisto's on your list of spots to try. We highly recommend it. Maybe you can make it out next time.

Just checking to see if we've got any additions to the guest list, or drop outs. Shouldn't have to let the restaurant know what to expect for a while yet, but we should try to get some idea of where we stand.

Hey Bump, Lady Di can't make it, she is actually working

a rarity for her, she's the queen of days off but not that one. I'm not 100% certain yet, if we do come, no more than 3 that I know of. Will know more next week.

I am not close to Winnipeg (Missouri), but do have friends there! As a child my dad traveled there for business, and I always called it Piggy ways! Have a great peep meet!
