Hey all! I was watching a show on Animal Planet (call me a nerd but I am an ABSOLUTE animal lover!) the other day about lions and lion cubs which got me wondering...Last year (March '05) when my boyfriend and I were in Playa, at the end of 5th (?) in a little open square area, we saw a bunch of street vendors. A couple of the "vendors" had various exotics like little pygmy marmoset monkeys, iguanas, macaws, etc. that you could get your picture taken with. The one vendor that caught my eye had a poor little lion cub that he was charging people $20+ a pic. I wanted to ask the man where he lived and housed such a creature and how he was going to take care of it when it was no longer a little guy that earned him money!!! but I thought the better of it and kept quiet.

I am wondering if anyone has/had seen this man and cub or this man w/ other exotics? Obviously the said cub is no longer a cub...but I just wanted to know if there are people exploiting exotics like this all the time in Playa? I did a search and saw someone commented on a like topic back in 2002...
