Huuu, following Sol's recomendation, used Hotwire and got the Imperial for a very good rate and because it is in the middle of the strip, as I said, I won't spend much time in the hotel (just like when I go to Playa, just a place to sleep and shower).

Now, any experiences on this one? just hope it's not a roach infested palace, hehehe.

Edit.....
After a look in some travel sites and a look at the map, is a gamble about the quality of the hotel (I don' normally gamble) but the location is just what I needed, very close to see the shows I had in mind "O" and "Le Réve" and near the monorail, so I just hope I can have good sleeps there,

Thanks for your help and recommendations.

But, Olympic gardens. I was intrigued by the name, the first result of a google search is: "Olympic Garden has HOT male strippers" so I don't think is my place to visit,

the imperial is ok. olympic gardens is a strip joint. they have male strippers every once in awhile but is know for it's women. any casino is a short shuttle bus or cab ride away if you don't feel like walking.

Great location with the imperial. I have never been there.

Correction to your post: Olympic Garden is a topless cabaret with beautiful Vegas girls dancing. They have a male review upstairs on certain nights. These are the best nights to go because the bachelorette parties always spill downstairs into the main club. It is a great time especially with a group of couples. Vegas Baby! This conduct is perfectly normal in Vegas

The Imperial's location is good.... not sure about staying there.
They have a great classic car "museum" located there, with most cars available for sale. Lots of cool old sports cars.

No worries, the second review stated that it was mostly girls, was just teasing because the first impression was like, heeee but then read the other reviews. Will think about it,

Thanks for your recommendations, I will try to use them well

As others have mentioned, the Imperial's location is a good one. If you just want a place to sleep, it will be fine.

Without a doubt.....NYNY. Good location, lots of things in the area...affordable "restaurants" (food court area). Fun casino. Also looks like there are opportunities for upgrades (if you ask nicely at check-in and maybe provide a nice tip)

Have fun

We are going to Vegas for our 25th in October. I like Bally's for the location and the rooms are good sized. I asked my friend about the Imperial..she said it's o;der and kind of dingy..I hope the dingy part is wrong.
My friend is going to try to get us a free room at the Venician. Her lover gets free rooms there all the time..she gambles alot...a whole lot. I still prefer the location of Bally's....right across from the Bellagio's fountains.

But, I am also like Jesus...I don't go to vegas to stay in a room.
The first time I went, it was for 3 nights..and I was in my room a total of 7 hours...just for a nap and showers!

I've stayed at the Luxor and would choose something a little closer to the strip. Bally's is good, clean and cheap. I liked the rooms at The Mirage too. NY NY, I've been in the casino part and it is gorgeous.

Just back to Smogcity, stayed 3 nights at the Imperial in Las Vegas, good location, in the middle of the action, but if you are looking for a nice place to stay, this is a bit old and cheap, but it suited my needs.
The only drawback was that I got a room in tower 4, which is towards the back of the hotel, but not a big deal, I needed the excercise anyway,

Saw a couple shows: "O" and "Le Reve", both hightly recomended. Didn't hit any of the nightclubs as I don't drink nor dance, so it was a looooong walking vacation for me.

I don't gamble, but tried the huge slots machine at the Golden Nugget, only spent one dollar there, but got 20 coins of which I kept two as souvenirs and cashed the rest, didn't want to tempt Lady Luck,

And on my return day, my flight was delayed for 2 hours, so before lunch I tried my luck with some of the machines at the airport, used 2 dollars and got back 11usd which payed for lunch, not a bad trip, hehehe.

And the last and most memorable report, it was Veeeeeeeeeeery hot which was great for chick watching,

Thanks again to all who contributed on this thread, see ya later alligator.

I know this is old, but way back in July when this was originally posted, it got me thinking about a trip to Vegas. We went for it and used priceline to win 6 nights at the NYNY at the end of Jan 2011. I'd go back to the NYNY, but I'd also look into Bally's or Harrah's because of location. Another hotel I wouldn't have considered, as it is "off the strip" just a block or so, is the Tuscany. Our friends stayed there at a steal of a price, and it wasn't so far away to deter me. If the price was right, I'd book it.

My mom and stepdad just got back from staying at Harrah's for a week last Wednesday....the location is exactly why they chose it. They quite liked it, said it was an older hotel and their room needed a refurb, but it was fine for them.

Mom really liked the wake-up call she got from 'Elvis' the day they came home.

I have still never been to Vegas.
