Hi James and Anna,
First time to PDC in late March and saw on the forum that there is a charter terminal and a main terminal. Would appreciate info on the shuttle van service direct to PDC from the terminal, is it operate out of the charter or the main terminal. If it is out of the main terminal, how do we get from the charter terminal to the main terminal, as we are coming in on the chartered flight. As we are two families travelling with 3 kids, we would like to get to our condo on 26th as soon as possible. So we are looking for something that will take us to the condo without having to stop at a lot of hotels etc. Thanks in advance for the info. Winnipeg, Canada |

There is public bus service from the Cancun airport to Playa del Carmen. The cost is $65 pesos(about $7USD) per adult and $33 pesos per child one way. It is run by the Riviera Bus line--a division of ADO – and it is the ONLY bus service from the airport to Playa. You can’t miss the bus – it’s big and blue with RIVIERA written on the bus and it is non-stop service. The tickets are sold at a small booth just through the double glass doors after you finish customs in Terminal 2(commercial international airlines and domestic arrival terminal). At this point, I don’t know if there are tickets sold in Terminal 1(charter terminal) or not. You can take the free shuttle over to Terminal 2 (It leaves just outside and to the right of the exit area). I have also heard that you can buy tickets on the RIVIERA bus. It makes about 10 trips a day between the two points, and there is plenty of room for luggage underneath. It will drop you off at the main bus station in Playa on the corner of Benito Juarez and 5th Ave. There is a taxi stand right next to the station if you need to go on from there.
There are also private transfer companies, such as altournative.com and many others. [ This Message was edited by: JAH on 2002-02-15 10:11 ] |

Hi JAH, thanks for the info on the shuttle bus.
We are actually more interested in the transfer Co. that you were referring to. As we will be starting our travelling around 4:00 am, by the time we get to Cancun, we will be very tired, and with a 3 years old in tow, I don't think we would like to be hauling our luggages to the main terminal, then onto the bus and then transfer to a taxi again. With the 7 of us together, do you know whether the cost with the transfer Co.(I assume that it will take us directly to our condo from the airport.) will be comparable to the bus? And do these Transfer Cos. operate out of the chartered terminal or do they just go out of the main terminal. We will be needing the same service when we are returning home later on, we would like to be picked up from our condo and be taken directly to the airport. Do you or anybody know any name of the transfer co.? Do we need to pre-booked them before we go? Do you have the website address for them? Thanks in advance for any info. |

Here are a couple sites to look at for transportation.
http://www.dreamdays.com http://www.agitours.com There are many others also. I would suggest that, since you have small children, you book in advance. Then they will be waiting at your terminal exit with your name on a placard. It will cost about double the public bus cost, but it will be much less hassle. You will always pay for the personal door-to-door service. Last edited by JAH : 04-26-2004 at 04:05 PM. |
