TG climbed into Volk's rafters to get a pic of ou group and our private tasting area. I think the consensus was the Volk had some good wines which were again on the pricier side, but that we enjoyed Rusack's outdoor setup much better. I enjoyed myself though, and was only a bit disappointed that they wouldn't sell me a single glass of wine afterward.

After Volk, the syl's, the W's, and Sol returned to syl and John's, while the rest of us went to Firestone. As there were 13 of us, and the wineries don't like groups of more than 8, Lucy's crew gladly sucked down some Miller Lite in the parking lot for a few minutes so that we could enter separately. When tasting in Firestone, I pulled out my wine distributor card (I am the Tasting Panel Chief for a distributor in Minnesota), and the W's, the Uno's, and TG and I got fantastic service. Lots of extra pours, including nicer stuff, free tastings (normally $10), and 30% discount on purchases. A great tour of some nicer wineries, thanks much to syl for setting it up and for the folks who volunteered to drive!

Next up...Friday evening festivities, things start to get a bit more rowdy.[/quote]

Dana and I had a wonderful time. I have a lot to learn about wine. Thanks to JG we bought two very nice bottles for a very resonable price.

last year we came home with 3 bottles -- 2 for Mr. Beer Man and 1 for me.

This year we came home with 7 Good thing Michael won $300 at the Casino!
We didn't fly back with any , but we had a nice bottle of Stolpman 2007 Grenache at the W's yesterday. It was yummy (that is technical wine talk, I think)

2007 Grenache

Bright red fruit with a youthful finish. Medium bodied, balanced, unusual for new world Grenache.

This is from the tasting notes, if it means anything to anyone

Quote:
Stolpman Grenache is made in the style of Chateau Neuf du Pape Rouge, rather than its ancestor in Spain, Old Vine Garnacha. Stolpman Grenache is red in color and taste, rather than thick and purple. The wine is intended to be less full bodied than the Stolpman Syrah, while still possessing an attractive ripe red cherry component. The earthy mid-palate softly backs up the up-front fruit, and the walloping tannic finish will settle over the next 2-3 years. While young, the Grenache pops out of the glass with freshly cut red berry aromas.

Wine, beer, tequila and Weed.

You guys are wild

Glad you got home safely. Our furkids were all right upon our arrival and a fire is started in the grill for a wee tri tip roast.

Just like last Wednesday we celebrated Sol's arriving at our house to begin the Peep Meet, last night we celebrated Ron and Kathy's last day at our house to end the Peep Meet. Similar results. The weekend I was fairly sober compared to those two nights.

Yes, Michael and I noticed that you were not drinking as much as last time.

Okay... Home. Dogs greeted, fed and happy. 2 beers, rested, and catching up. I'm happy too. (I'll unpack the car later.)

JG is doing a fine job with this report although I'm feeling a bit nervous about what's to come.

Colleen talked half way home about who can sleep in what room when she invites everyone here for a gathering. I think we get the inflatable mattress set up in the den. (and ta think she was nervous about meeting everyone less than a week ago.) She's posted more than I have ever since. But at least I can say "Told ya so." Now you're OUR friends.

I suspect there will a couple new "peeps" showing up on the boards after this meet!
