American TV Channels

Whats a good company to get american channels here in Playa.
About how much does it cost?
What type of contracts is it with the company... such as a year?

Thanks so much

I have Cablemas and have lots of U.S./English speaking channels. "How much does it cost?" Depends on how many and what channels you want to receive (premiims like HBO, etc.?). You could probably spend as little as $250 pesos/month to close $1000 pesos/month).

As Al said, Cablemas (and Sky) have a good number of English speaking channels.
But if you want US networks, that's a different story. There are folks that will set up a dish and a receiver to pick up DirecTV or Dish from the states. Not sure how legal it is (DirecTV and Dish prohibit broadcasting to Mexico) but it's done for a price.
Snappy has a source I believe.

This is possible? How is that even done?

A large dish and a receiver. It's definitely possible. A lot of people in town have US satellite TV. Again, not totally legal, but it works. I've heard rates around $1000usd for installation (includes equip) and fees ranging from zero to $80 a month. Send a PM to SnappySammy. He has a contact.

I know that this has been dormant thread but I have some questions about US satellite TV and cable options. I have lived in Playa half the year for about 10 years. I have used my Dish account and Dish Satellite receiver to get US programming in Playa. I wondered the following:
1. Has Sky and Cablemas improved to the point where I can get most of the same programming from those providers.
2. I have Telemex in my Playa home, do you know if they provide cable television services?
3. Do you know if Direct TV Satellite works in Playa?

Thank You

I use USTVnow.com, a web based service with about 30 stations. I tend to watch it on my iMac, but you can get it via a mobile device and take it to your television.

All previous answers apply.
Telmex offers DISH Mexico.
No better than Sky or IZZI (formerly Cablemas)
We also use USTVNow along with Netflix, Amazon Prime and fmovies.to.
To get Amazon Prime and Netflix US you will need a VPN.
We use Hotspot Shield.

Thanks for the quick replies!

AT&T has an unlimited data plan in Mexico for DirectTV subscribers. I may sign up for the plan and see if their Direct TV APP can be used in Playa to watch American TV Programs.

I’ll let everyone know if this works in about a month or so. Stay Tuned
