No, no, no.

They did not cause the U.S. obesity problem. The patrons caused their own problem.

That is absolutely hilarious. Some of the advice from this forum is priceless.

I wish I could show that to Ronnie and Joel. I'm sure they'd get a kick out of it too.

Heard last week that KFC was coming out with a new sandwich. 5 layers of just the skin with bacon and mayonaise. Yeah baby!!!!! Sadly it was just a rumor.

And it's on Juarez at 30th...away from those...those....those....tourists!!
Add a Taco Bell and I could live there.

Nope, no Java Joe's in the sleepy little backwater of Winnipeg, or any other place I've ever been either, except Playa. Only a couple of national chains up here in Canada, as far as I know.

Starbucks - bloody awful expensive, and pretentious as Hell, but I like their coffee.
Tim Horton's - with the secret addicting ingredient that has all Canadians hooked.

And there are a flock of regional or semi-national chains, like Robins, JJ Bean, Blenz, Second Cup, Timothy's, Van Houtte, Pacific Coffee, FIX, and Bean Scene.

Then there are plenty of local outlets that might have a couple or a few stores. Generally they're donut joints.

I always found the coffee at Java Joe's in Playa to be acceptable, but not particularly outstanding.

The explosion of franchise food in Playa is depressing for me.

Franchise food on every corner in Playa seems some how sacrilegious.

Every time another franchise opens in Playa the town seems to lose a little bit of what makes it unique.

I come to Playa to GET AWAY from franchise business.

Looks tasty!!!! Would go great with side order of Deep Fried Butter from the Texas State Fair. Oh, and a couple Lipitor of course.

It was not connected in any way.

Google 'Java Joe's'
See how many hits you get that are not connected to the Java Joe's in Canada.
Kinda a moot issue now, isn't it?

Years ago(1998) we took about 40 people from St Louis to Acapulco on a sales incentive trip (after our plans for Cancun were derailed by the hurricane)Less than half the folks showed up for dinners we had planned for the group (including the cliff diving show). We found out later that they had found a Denny's nearby and were in hog heaven.
They're loss then and others now at Starbucks and the like.
